Dog Training in Denver: ZiggyAs one of the top dog training companies in Denver, we get to come to work every day and connect with dozens of great dogs and families. Through our tried and true method of Denver dog training, we help our clients raise obedient, happy, confident dogs. In today’s posts we’re excited to introduce a pup that is thriving through his training here at Sit Means Sit and his owners’ ongoing efforts at home. Meet Ziggy!

When He first came to us, Ziggy struggled with many of the fundamental skills we work to instill at Sit Means Sit. Today he’s showing vast improvements!

Recall

Initially, Ziggy grasped the concept of coming when he was called even from a distance. However, the slightest distraction would confuse him and often take him off course. After working with us and taking this training homework seriously, Ziggy is quick to reply when given the command to come, even when faced with the distractions of other dogs in group classes or at the dog park. Way to go Ziggy!

 Place

When Ziggy first began working to master place, he caught on quickly but was timid when a new place was introduced. Over time, he began to master the skill but struggled to hold until released. Today he is holding place like a champ!

Heel

One of Ziggy’s struggles early on was heel. When on walks he lunged at bikes, people and other dogs. However, he quickly began to reform and could walk on a leash without reacting to passersby or bicyclists, but he still struggled to contain himself when encountering other dogs. After more training sessions, Ziggy is able to walk by his owner or trainer’s side and contain his energy when encountering distractions, including other dogs!

Sit

Sit was another difficult skill for Ziggy at first. His level of excitement and distraction made it very difficult for him to stay still. Today he has mastered the implied stay and will happily hold his position until released.

What Ziggy’s Parents Have to Say

We have a very anxious 1-year-old puppy (Ziggy) who was a real challenge for me and my family. We were desperately looking for options to help our situation as we were not gaining much ground with puppy training programs and self-education. We met with Jon back in October 2017 and he sold us on the board and training program. Ziggy spent 16 days with Jon, Abel and Lindsay and we could not be happier with the results. They did a fantastic job of laying the groundwork for us to work with moving forward. Not only did they train Ziggy, they also trained us on the techniques necessary to get the results we desire. We knew that the process didn’t stop when Ziggy came home and we have been very diligent in continuing the training to this day. Ziggy has made great strides in becoming a well-behaved dog that is much happier and calm. A special shout out to Abel who spent the majority of the time with Ziggy. He is a professional and very knowledgeable in this space. We continue to take Ziggy to group training on Saturdays and Abel is always there for support and to answer our questions. I would recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone looking to receive a great dog training experience! Nice job guys!”
