When Jean-Luc first came to us, he was very jumpy and easily distracted. Like most of the dogs we work with here at Sit Means Sit, Jean-Luc quickly turned a corner and began learning all kinds of new skills. Let’s explore his Lakewood dog training skills and how they have improved.

Sit & Place

In his first session, Jean-Luc was timid and really struggled to embrace the idea of place. However, in just his second session, he began to master the skill of going to ‘place.’ The only thing he struggled with that day was sitting when there was no clearly defined ‘place.’ In a matter of weeks, our blossoming student was scoring 5 out of 5 on his sit and place evaluation!

Leash

During his first session, Jean-Luc seemed to be frightened when leash pressure was used. However, he quickly began to understand how to walk beside the trainer and confidently obey commands while on his leash.

Thresholds

Displaying appropriate behaviors in thresholds was a skill Jean-Luc struggled with through several sessions. We had to work with him on exiting doors without pushing, as well as sitting before and after doors. Though these skills did not come naturally at first, he quickly got the hang of it. Great job Jean-Luc!

These are just a few of the many skills Jean-Luc has mastered during his time with us. His entire family agrees that his Lakewood dog training has helped him become a happier, more confident pup. Way to go!
