The training team has laid the foundation for a dog who I thought I would never be able to train…

We’re already so pleased with the progress Lindy made just from 7 days of board and train! We’re excited to get started on our group classses and make even more progress.

My fiancé and I recently just had our German Shepherd, Piper, graduate from Sit Means Sit-Akron/Cleveland! We had attempted everything we could think of trying to get Piper to listen to us and communicate effectively, nothing seemed to be working. She was a very submissive dog when we rescued her so we were not sure what approach to take with her. We finally were referred to Sit Means Sit and it was a complete life changer. We had Jim as our trainer primarily for our classes. He was fantastic! He had a vast knowledge of the training and was full of tips/tricks for at home learning. They completely built up her confidence and she is no longer the very submissive dog we first had. I would definitely recommend this training program!

I took Scarlett here for the day train program to help with her high energy, jumping and barking. I am so pleased with how far she has come in such a short period of time. We worked with Chelsea who was wonderful, she was patient with us and answered all of our questions. I am looking forward to Scarlett’s follow-up lesson and the group classes. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit! Everyone has been wonderful throughout the process!

Our year old dog Guinness could not have been any sweeter but he was running our house. It seemed as though we were constantly yelling at him and he enjoyed the negative attention. We knew we needed to do something to break the cycle and give him an opportunity to become a good dog. He did a boarding and training program and what a difference it has made! Although we are still developing his skills, he is an entirely different dog. He sits quietly with us, lays politely beside the dinner table, and is so much more affectionate. Instead of yelling at him, we now have commands he understands and usually a reminder is all he needs to comply. He now receives positive attention. Life for all of us (and Guinness) is so much better!!! Thank you Sit Means Sit!

We recently enrolled our beloved canine family member in the Sit Means Sit board and train program, and we are absolutely amazed at the results!! I knew I would never find the time to train our sweet girl properly, and I have a deep interest in getting her certified to be a therapy dog. When we brought her home, the training we received to continue her progress was more than sufficient to maintain and improve all of the wonderful obedience skills she learned during her program. Our dog is all of 17 months old, and her listening skills are amazing. We are so proud to take her places and enjoy her well-mannered demeanor. The 20 day program included life-time group and private lesson follow – what more could you ask for? We highly recommend this wonderful group of professional trainers!

I took my almost 2 year old English Bulldog, Eddie, to Sit Means Sit for one week of sleep-over obedience training to help him with his ADHD issues. Like most toddlers, he was formerly easily distracted and didn’t always listen like he should. And like a typical Brit, he could be stubborn. No more. After a week with the miracle workers at Sit Means Sit, he’s like a new dog. But he’s no mind-numbed robot, he’s my same dog, just a better version of himself. He simply has an understanding now of what recognition-earning behavior looks like and how to more consistently respond to communication inputs and commands. I recommend SMS without hesitation. The people are fantastic and caring individuals. The facilities are top notch. And most importantly, the training works in a way that when you as the owner leave, it lasts. It’s an investment, but worth every penny. Oh, and for those who believe the SMS method is about shocking dogs into submission, I’m sorry, you’re misinformed. The SMS training collars are a means of communicating with your dog, of alerting him that it’s time to do something different. Those commands come with your voice or body language, not pain. The collar is simply a way of saying, “Hey, Eddie, I need your attention, now.” And the collar doesn’t hurt. The trainer activated Eddie’s in the palm of my hand. It did get my attention. But it did not hurt. Facts matter.

We had a 10 month old Corgi (Cecil) that did not listen, always jumping, always barking, and had some resource guarding issues. Thanks to 3 private sessions with Kevin and Sit Means Sit, all of those issues have been fixed. We still have 8 group lessons and Cecil & family are very excited to train and meet new dogs.

First, I’d like to describe the situation I was dealing with before I contacted Sit Means Sit.
My dog (Meeka), about 6 years old, had severe behavioral issues. We had tried in home training before, I would put her on our treadmill every day for 30+ mins, we tried automatic bark collars and manual electric collars. She was on 6 different medicines in the last year to control her behavior/anxiety.
The past few months, Meeka has gotten progressively worse, especially with my 3 year old. She actually bit her and I scheduled to have her put down. The night before, my husband wanted to give a board and train program a chance. That’s when I contacted Sit Means Sit and we did the 10 day board and train program.
She’s so much calmer now, way easier to control, and actually listens to us. Our home is peaceful and we can have visitors over without anxiety. We will still continue to work with her every day, but the improvement I’ve seen is beyond what I ever thought would happen.
I’m so happy we found you guys!! You essentially saved our dog’s life. Thank you!!

So excited to get started, I just went to our demo with our 9 month old olde english bulldog puppy & loved seeing the dogs & what the could do. I’m so impressed & hoping to eventually do advanced obedience.

I was very surprised how well my 9yr old dog has done!

Sit means Sit is an awesome dog training program. Every person that we have dealt with at the facility has been professional, nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Every person I have spoken to that has had their dog there, loves the program and has done wonders for the dog and their pet’s training. In two words “it works.” We did the “boot camp” last summer because our labradoodle was nipping people coming over to the house as well as not “coming” when he was called. My dog is very obedient now and it’s been 9 months! Amazing. Love the program and the trainers. I can’t say enough. If you want an honest review, come to a Saturday morning group class and ask any one of the participants what they think. Trust me, you’ll walk away wanting to bring your pet in for training.

We took Bambam to Sit Means Sit for some extra training with his kennel anxiety, barking, and general obedience. It was hard to drop Bambam off, as he hasn’t been away from me since he was 8 weeks old. But when we picked him back up today, he is a completely different pup! He walks by my side, doesn’t pull, listens to commands and it’s not hard at all to use the e-collar. Some distractions at home still get to him, but it will just take time. Overall, he is doing so good now!

We cannot be more pleased with the people and process of Sit Means Sit. They have done everything they said they would and kept us informed by sharing videos during the stay at “summer camp”. We got them home yesterday and took them for walks and the difference is night and day. they both “heeled” perfectly and other people, dogs or cars did not distract them. We highly suggest you call and ask for an in-home evaluation and see if they can help you to truly enjoy your dog rather than just having a dog.

Sit Means Sit is absolutely, without reservation, the best, and most PET FRIENDLY dog training option we’ve ever seen, and we’ve had over 20 dogs in our lifetime – not all went through training but some did, and none of them made as dramatic improvement as our current dog, Sequel, a 10-month old Saint Bernard. She enjoys the sessions like a kid on a playground, and it’s obvious she adores Kevin, Jenny and all the staff members. Dogs don’t lie and Sit Means Sit definitely gets five starts from her too. We did have initial doubts about using the training collar but after holding it in our hands and assuring ourselves it was OK for our pup, and getting confirmation from our vet, we signed up and couldn’t be happier with the progress we’ve seen.

We had our 4 month old golden retriever puppy trained by Sit Means Sit. We did a 15 day board and train back in November. We continue to participate in the weekly group classes. We have nothing but good things to say about the staff and the training methods. Our puppy went in to the board and train as an untrained bundle of energy. She emerged as a much calmer, much more obedient puppy. The weekly group classes continue to reinforce the basics she learned during her 15 day stay. She is growing into a well trained puppy.

The professionals here know what they are doing. Our dog is now well mannered when he is supposed to be. Still loves to run and just be a dog but is able to bring it in and be calm when we want him to be.

They were great. We had our one dog there for 15 days and the other 10. They both came home well behaved and happier. The trainers were happy to answer any of our questions and calmed our anxieties. I would recommend them to anyone who has a dog with behavioral issues.

We had Belle for 15 months. As any puppy, she had her time being house broken, she was not that difficult. Barking at strangers outside and especially inside the house when we had people come over she would not stop. We saw an add in the newspaper for dog training in Mentor we signed up. She was doing sit, stay, and down well. Then one evening we met Mike and his dog. His dogs attention was on him even with other dog’s in his area. He gave us his card and we signed up to have Mike assist us in training Belle. My wife and I are very happy Belle is a changed dog. When I we start our morning she is excited. Belle is saying, “take me for a walk or train me”. We completed our training last night and we are very satisfied.

Paul, wow…I can’t believe it myself. We had Gina’s 50th birthday party last night…and the girls were INCREDIBLE!!!! There were about 35 people here, and there was NO barking, jumping, annoying, or overly
enthusiastic antics from Addi or Tempe. EVERYONE commented on how well behaved they were…and those who knew them prior to Sit Means Sit training, were absolutely AMAZED at the incredible transformation!!! We gave out 2 of your cards…and I’m sure there will be more requests for you contact information. We could not be happier with the results of training with you and Roxie (who is seriously welcome any time for a play date). Thank you so much !!! On a rating scale of 1 to 10….you and Roxie get a million!!! You are welcome to use us as examples of VERY SATISFIED customers. Take care and thanx a million!!

Mike and Paul,First and foremost – thank you for the training you provided Reese….and me! I must admit, I certainly had my doubts going into this whole thing, but I also knew that I was at my wits end and something had to give. I contacted several different trainers, all with varying programs and methodologies. I wanted a trainer and program that would love and care for my puppy Reese as much as I do. Additionally, I wanted a trainer that was reputable, safe, responsive, and that matched our energy – but one that understood my challenges and listened to my “goals”. After talking to several different trainers and what they had to offer, I made my decision – Sit Means Sit all the way!
Mike came to my house to do a demo and explained how your training program works, the collar, and took the time to answer any questions that I had. He was more than informed and experienced, but came with an energy and obvious love for what he does and the Sit Means Sit program. I really appreciated that! Within a few weeks, I was dropping Reese off for her one week board-and-train. I remember thinking when I was leaving that Sit Means Sit may have just met their match….until a week later when Mike brought her home and showed me just how wrong I was! She was AWESOME!!
Since it was now my turn to be trained, Mike took the time to go through everything Reese learned, her commands, and how she did at training. He walked me through using the collar and spent time in practice to help me get used to it as well. Mike returned for a second follow-up visit a week later to see how we both progressed and even had us outside in my front yard with an UNLEASHED REESE to play with the one and only super Zeus!! I still can’t believe it! Reese is doing so well on her walks – she heels like an angel!!
Reese’s puppy spunk and energy didn’t disappear with the training…they just got so much better and more enjoyable! We’re having a blast and I’m certain that my other dog Sam is just as appreciative as well. Mike – your in-home training support and patience was outstanding and so much fun!!
Thank you Mike, Paul, and everyone at Sit Means Sit – you guys rock!!

Paul, I have done a lot of research on different companies, read numerous books, watched numerous videos and even went to different businesses for information. I was referred to Sit Means Sit by a friend who talked very highly of them and their methods. I located Paul Pollock who is about 2 hours away from me and was a little hesitant to drive two hours for a demo. After watching some of the videos on sitmeanssit.com and reading more about the company I decided that it would definitely be worth the drive to check him out. After meeting with Paul I immediately signed up and got my dog trained. I was so impressed and pleased with the outcome of the training and how quickly those results came that I then checked into opening a Sit Means Sit location in my area. I am now pleased and proud to say Sit Means Sit of Northwest Ohio will be opening in May of 2009. I definitely recommend everyone that owns a dog and is thinking about training to check out the videos and contact Paul for a free demo.
Don L. & Voxx
Paul, just wanted to send you a quick note of thanks. As you know, I was somewhat skeptical about the Sit Means Sit training method, but after doing my homework and viewing the web site I decided that this might be just the type of training Voxx and I needed. I was correct. My main objective with the remote collar was to make sure I used it correctly from the start. Having trained dogs in the past I know it doesn’t take much to take the drive out of a dog if the training is done incorrectly.
Having had two of our three individual lessons, I am very pleased with the results we have had so far. As you know I am showing Voxx in AKC obedience trials. In his first trial Voxx was High Scoring Dog in Trial with a score of 189 out of 200. To say the least we were very pleased. Our second trial we did well also and now only need one more qualifying trial to get Voxx’s CD title, (Companion Dog).
I was very impressed with your training methods. In my opinion, having worked with several different trainers, you have the right personality for training dogs, the first of which is patience. You did a great job of demonstrating your techniques with Jammer and your soft tone of voice was appreciated as it seems that many trainers think that dogs only understand when you yell.
I look forward to our third individual lesson and to the group lessons as we move forward. Thanks again for your help and good luck to you in the future.Don L

My dog guide Edge and I were matched by one of the most respected dog guide schools for the blind. He is a wonderful guide and saved me from getting hit by a taxi while in training by responding exactly as he was taught. His off-duty behavior, however, was something else entirely. When our trainers said it was time to let the dogs off-leash in our dorm rooms, Edge ran, grabbed a braille information guide off the desk, jumped over the bed and hid underneath it, completely destroying the papers while I tried to reach him. The instructors told me I needed to be more firm with my corrections.
He went on to other misbehaviors but snatching papers was his specialty. This was a real problem since I work in an office and a copier/FAX machine was directly behind my desk. It is no longer there.
He tried to devour all kinds of paper, including paper towels and napkins. Once he even took a napkin off someone’s lap while we were following a hostess to our table in a restaurant. It was humiliating! He began taking the cookies out of the hands of small children at church and I was so afraid he’d sever a finger. Still the dog school told me that I should be able to break him of these bad habits by being stronger with my corrections. He is a very strong dog and moves so quickly. Even the sighted people at church gatherings never saw any hint that he was going for their plates until they realized he’d jumped up and taken their food.
I knew something had to be done when we were out in the backyard and he lunged toward children having a snowball fight in a nearby yard. It all happened so fast and I ended up on the ground (for the first time) with a shoulder injury.
Everyone was giving me “helpful” advice on how I should work with him but he was just too strong and fast for me to get control of. One of my co-workers brought me a brochure from Sit Means Sit. While the dog school actively discourages us from working with any trainer not their own, I was truly desperate. I decided to give Sit Means Sit a chance before bowing to what I thought was inevitable and returning Edge to the school after trying for almost nine months to get him to settle into our home.
The training demonstration was amazing! I could tell Edge was confused. It was the first time since we came home from training that he was stopped, mid-lunge, from going after something he was totally focused upon. When the trainer said he could help Edge become an obedient dog in just three lessons, I doubted his sanity but, as I stated, we were desperate.
Now, after our three lessons, Edge is a well-behaved dog. There are still occasional misbehaviors but he responds to corrections. I am no longer afraid to take him out in public and my home is much more peaceful.
Marty and Molly (dog)
Dear Paul–I am so pleased we decided to go with Sit Means Sit to train our new standard Poodle. I have trained other dogs but used mainly my voice for communication, since I am having trouble with my voice this has proved a wonderful way to train. Molly has progressed faster than any other dog I’ve had and is eager to have her collar put on in the morning. She has only been in training for about six weeks but I took her to a soccer game last weekend and she was beautifully behaved and loved all the hugs and kisses from the adults and children. Any future dogs I have will definately be trained with Sit Means Sit.
