Fun Ways to Celebrate Hanukkah with Your Dog
There is no question that our furry friends have to be there to celebrate every achievement, milestone, and holiday. So, read below for ways to celebrate Hanukkah with your pup!
Toys
Dreidel Plush
This dog toy can keep the tradition of playing a game of dreidel. Though your four-legged friend cant play a traditional game of dreidel, this is the next best thing! And, there are no rules required!
Star of David Rope
This toy is also a great option for the many Hanukkah-themed toys available. Not only is it made of cotton, but it also promotes dental health with chewing. This toy is great for fetching, chewing, or tug-of-war. Additionally, this will make a great gift for one of the eight nights of the holiday.
Apparel
Bandana
This adorable bandana is sure to make your friends and family smile. Additionally, it is adjustable and has a release buckle that does not attach to your pal’s collar. Let everyone know what a nice Jewish boy your furry friend is this season!
Sweater
Though we always spoil our companions, these eight days are special! Let everyone know just how special your pal is with this hoodie! Additionally, it comes in multiple sizes and styles. There is no better way to get in the holiday spirit than with some festive apparel!
Food
Latkes
The holidays are all about the food. Latkes are grated potatoes with egg, onion, and other seasonings such as garlic. However, the garlic and other oils make it off-limits for Fido. So, to make dog-friendly latkes you will need:
- 1 pound of potato
- 2 eggs
- 1-2 Tbs of matzo meal
- sprinkle of dill and parsley
Just grate your potatoes and squeeze out the extra liquid. Then, combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Scoop balls of the mixture onto a greased baking tray and flatten them into patties. Lastly, bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes on each side. Cool and then enjoy it with your furry friend!
Gelt
Fido can’t miss out on the delicious treats! To make doggy-friendly versions of this classic treat, you will just need unsweetened carob chips. Just melt the chips down and then pour them into molds and allow them to set in the fridge before enjoying them!
Use the ideas above as the inspiration for celebrating Hanukkah with your companion!
