Maltese

Malteses weigh under 7 pounds and are known for their long, straight coat. However, they are very affectionate dogs with their owners and are very friendly. They require daily brushing and even a conditioner regularly.

Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkies are also about 7 pounds and are known for their long brown and black coats. You can let their coat grow longer, however, you should still keep their hair trimmed out of the eyes. Additionally, a longer coat requires daily brushing and more maintenance. Yorkies are also very affectionate, but they can be stubborn! So, socializing and training early is important.

Schapendoes

These medium-sized dogs are truly shaggy! They are friendly, loving, and have lots of energy. Tis breed requires weekly baths and grooming to keep the coat nice and healthy.

Barbet

Barbets can weigh between 35-65 pounds. They are athletic, agile, and sweet. Their natural curls look best when trimmed up to 5 inches in length. Additionally, because of these curls, air-drying is preferred over blow-drying. Barbets also need regular grooming and brushing to look their best!

Old English Sheepdog

This large breed can weigh 60 to 100 pounds! They are affectionate, enjoys having a job, and requires plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. These extra-shaggy dogs have a double coat that must be groomed weekly! Additionally, English sheepdogs are not always friendly with other dogs. So, early socialization is key!

Bouvier Des Flandres

This breed can weigh between 70-100 pounds and has a curly, tousled coat that should be brushed once a week at a minimum. Because these are herding dogs, they have lots of energy and need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Additionally, these dogs are smart and loyal.

Shaggy breeds are so adorable but require a lot of work! Though you may not be up for the time commitment, looking at pictures is always fun too.
