Client’s Name: Larry & Sally

Dog’s Name: “Matador”

City: Kyle, TX 78610

Breed: Border Collie/Mix

Likes: “Matt’s loves to play fetch. He likes to jump high in the air to catch the Kong and twirls in the air like an acrobat (without considering how he is going to land). He likes to chew on this Kong when not chasing it and on average destroys one a month. He loves to run hard and fast (after his Kong) while we cheer for him. He loves going on walks. He likes to sleep on his back, on his improvised couch bed, with his feet up in the air as he leans on the supporting pillows. He likes to guard our yard and his pool from squirrels and birds. He likes to share an apple with us in the morning. He likes to give you a hug every now and then but is shy of you returning too many hugs. He likes to lay by you as you do your work. ”

Pet-Peeves:After he has his breakfast he likes to come back in and go to sleep. If you let him in and then try to put him back out instead of letting him sleep he is very uncooperative. He lets you clean his paws off after he has muddied himself but he is not crazy about the idea. He does not like it when other people come to our house.

Favorite Toy: He likes to fetch his Kong over and over again.

Favorite Treat: He likes slices of apple, baby carrots and any dog treat.

Favorite Walk: He enjoys the front yard, going down the street and the nearby park. We don’t go far since he is not very well trained.

Best Trick: “Running after the Kong and jumping high in the air to catch it. Sometimes my husband pretends as if he threw the Kong to get him to go after it and then instead throws it to him as he is approaching him. Matt is able to catch it most of the time. I think he is capable of learning other tricks and am open to other suggestions. ”

Arrival Story: Our previous dog passed away a year or two ago. We felt we could provide a good home for a dog and/or cat that needed a home. We went to PAWS animal shelter in Kyle. We wanted a pet that others were not willing to adopt. Matt had been at the shelter for two years and here we are. After we got him home there were some issues that alarmed us (he snapped at all of our friends). The shelter offered a few training lessons but emphasized that he would always be ‘high maintenance’ and offered to find another place for him. We decided against that. We do not expect him to be perfect – we just want him to understand that people and other animals are not out to get him. We think he has had a broken life and deserves a break.

Why Training / Sit Means Sit: “We are far from rich but we consider Matt part of the family and are hopeful that this investment will help him live a richer life. Sandi Charles, from Kealing, recommended this place. You helped her with her dogs (I think their names are Maggie and Lilly).”

Motto: Intense and a loner. He focuses on something and it is extremely difficult to recapture his attention. Both the police academy and the Kyle Cell Dog program determined he was too aggressive to train. I hope you can help him.
