Dog Training Austin – Sweet and Goofy Flat Coated Retriever Mix Just Wants to Please

Flat Coated Retriever Mix

Client’s Name: Jessica and Donovan

Dog’s Name: “Franklin Sue”

City: Austin, TX 78704

Breed: Flat-Coated Retriever Mix

Likes: Franklin Sue likes to swim, play keep-away, and snack on fruit and puppy treats. She is fond of afternoon naps and long early morning walks.

Pet-Peeves: She hates statues of bulls and hippies with guitars… a lot.

Favorite Toy: Currently half a pig (formerly full of stuffing). But really she likes anything that is plush, tug-gable, and easily destroyed.

Favorite Treat: Ice cubes, water melon rinds, sliced strawberries, and all puppy treats.

Favorite Walk: She likes to go places where she can swim.

Best Trick: She is pretty good at dribbling a tennis ball, though she doesn’t do it on command (yet)

Arrival Story: On an early Saturday morning, Donovan and I walked down to the capitol building to participate in a protest that ended up being a bit anemic. As a result we decided to drown our bruised civic pride in some of Austin’s pubs. While at one such establishment, Donovan began his spiel for why we needed to buy a new grill. I argued that now was not the time, and though I wouldn’t buy him a grill I would buy him another beer. While heading home after a few more libations, we were passed by a couple walking a beautiful black dog. I pointed to the dog and exclaimed, “That is a fantastic dog!.” One block later, we came upon Austin Pets Alive outdoor adoption center on South Congress, where Donovan looked up and pointed to a dog and proclaimed, “Hey look, that’s my dog.” It turned out to be the same dog I had noticed and within ten minuted we had a 70-pound dog. By the next morning we had spent twice as much as we would have on a grill and for about a day we considered naming our new dog “Weber.” But it turns out her name is “Franklin Sue.”

Why Training / Sit Means Sit: We met Troy and Shelley in neighborhood and always noticed how well behaved and happy their dogs were. After talking to them and getting to know them (and their dogs) we decided that Franklin Sue would be a lot happier if she were trained. (We certainly knew we would be happier). So here we are.
