Great Dane learns to walk on a loose leash

Your Name: Sammy & Kyle

Dog’s Name: Ukko

City: Madison

Breed: Great Dane

Likes: Play tug, sit on your lap, and sleep on the porch in the sun.

Pet Peeves: Getting up early in the morning and the vacuum cleaner.

Favorite Toy: Jolly Ball, technically a horse toy, but our guy loves it!

Favorite Treat: Any human food, including: sweet potatoes, green beans, cottage cheese, and pumpkin.

Best Trick: Ukko can lay down and wait in the other room while we hide treats in the living room. He sniffs them all out – even the ones hidden under bones and toys!

Arrival Story: We always wanted a large dog. We fell in love with Great Danes and Dynamite Danes, our breeder. We drove all the way to Woodbine, IA to get our guy. When we met him at just 7 weeks old and 14 lbs, it was love at first sight!

Motto: Ukko is truly a goofy, gentle giant weighing in at 130lbs! He has a big personality and the most expressive eyebrows!

Why Training/ Sit Means Sit: We are getting training because Ukko pulled a lot on a leash and was reactive to other dogs while on a leash. He always did great at dog parks, but with a 130lb black dog, the neighborhood walks were becoming more and more stressful. I was worried he would hurt us or someone else. We chose Sit Means Sit because of the great reviews and they offered a free consultation. After meeting Jayson, we felt like he really understood our problems. Jayson was very knowledgeable, answered all our questions, offered free advice, and Ukko was immediately enamored. After bootcamp, Ukko no longer pulls on our walks, his re-activeness is almost non-existent, and he is blending into our lifestyle much better.
