Puppy Lessons
The first 16 weeks of your puppy’s life are the most important when it comes to training. During that time, you can teach them the proper way to behave from the start, so you don’t have to correct severe problems down the road. Obedience learned at the beginning of your pup’s life will help them…

Off-Leash
If you aspire to enjoy the freedom of having your dog off-leash while exploring your favorite trails or during camping adventures, off-leash training could be a perfect fit for you and your furry companion. Off-leash training is distinct from obedience, although skills such as recall are the foundation of off-leash training. Our trainers will begin…
Reactive
A reactive dog overreacts to normal situations that other dogs would take in stride. They become overstimulated easily and may bark, lunge, and growl at something as simple as another dog or person walking on the other side of the street. Attention to training is extremely important, as reactivity can turn into aggression. The cause…
Socialization
Socialization with dogs, humans, and other animals is a great way to ensure a well-mannered and confident dog. See More ReviewsWe have two dogs – 5 and 6 year old lab mix and lab/pit mix, which we got shortly before having children. We have progressively had more issues with them as the years have gone on; we call the lab/pit a “bull in a china shop”.
They listened every once in a while, but not consistently. Sometimes they were calm, but other times they were out of control. We would put them in our basement whenever we ate because of them begging at the table, or literally jumping on the table after we stepped away to try to get food scraps. Always in the basement when we had company.
They would growl at each other when eating, even if in separate rooms. Once my lab/pit growled at me, and that’s when I decided it was time to finally find something. However, my husband works long hours, and I have 2 young kids with another on the way, so we have very little time to commit to training. I was overwhelmed thinking about how to get our dogs under control, but knew that giving them away would be our absolute last resort.
I found Sit Means Sit, and met Josh, and was immediately impressed with how he interacted with our dogs. He proposed either 3 individual days with 3 lessons afterward, or a 6 day intensive with 3 lessons spread out afterward. We chose the 6 day option because it worked better with our schedule.
I am amazed. They just got home 3 days ago, and we only have had one of the 3 lessons, but we have different dogs now. I honestly never thought we would have “good” dogs who actually listen. The lab/pit would run out the front door if my toddler opened it, and usually would come back on his own terms, never would listen to me if I said “come”. We are still working on them sitting and not crossing the boundary to go outside, but they’re making great progress. Nevertheless, he did in fact run out front yesterday. However, as I used the tools and told him to “come”, he was back inside within 30 seconds. They now lay on their beds while we eat, and don’t jump on the table afterwards. I am significantly less worried about one of them plowing over one of my little kids. And, they still have their crazy loving personalities.
I only wish I knew about this sooner, as the dogs had been increasingly adding more and more stress to our lives. We truly enjoy them again, which is such a blessing. Thank you Josh!!
I had a fantastic experience with Sit Means Sit Dog Training, thanks to Josh! He did an exceptional job training my mini Australian Shepherd puppy. From the start, Josh was friendly, accommodating, and truly dedicated to helping us.
He boarded my dog for five days, providing excellent care, and then came to our home to reinforce the training. We even had training sessions in a busy local area, which really helped my puppy get used to other dogs and people.
Josh’s expertise and approach made all the difference. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit for anyone looking to train their dog!
