About OurSocializationDog Training

Socialization with dogs, humans, and other animals is a great way to ensure a well-mannered and confident dog. The best time to socialize is between 10-16 weeks of age, but not all dogs get to experience socialization as a puppy. A lot of rescue dogs enter their new homes without proper socialization, which can put stress on both the dog and the owner.

Below are signs that your dog may need extra socialization:

  • Fearful around people or other animals
  • Nervous when out on walks
  • Shy or overly excited around people or other dogs
  • Aggressive towards other dogs
  • Tail tucked between the legs

A dog with improper socialization runs the risk of becoming fearful or aggressive. Contact us today to see how we can help!

We’re finishing up our first session of training with our newish lab. She was chewing a lot, not listening real well, but she’s a smart pup. After doing training through SMS we are on a path and she now listens and behaves even better than our other dog. Now we’re going to have to do training with him too!

I have a highly reactive dog who has been difficult to walk and lunges at people and other animals. I had tried a different trainer and while I was able to finally walk her, she continued to pull, lunge and show aggression when others came within 20 feet. I couldn’t board her and had difficulty finding dog sitters when I would need to travel . We are still in the early stages of training, but I have actually been able to walk her using only her collar and leash, with her vibration collar, and she has been calmer when others are in my home. We still have work to do, but she has really been responsive with our trainer, Brian, and I have seen progress.
