Frozen Dog Treats for Summer

Frozen Dog Treats for Summer

As soon as it starts warming up, we instantly start craving some icy cool treats to cool down. Luckily, we have ice water, ice cream, popsicles, and all other kinds of cold foods to stop us from overheating, but what about our dogs? They want in on the icy summer treats, too, after all! The good news is that we’ve gathered all of the best cold treat recipes for you to whip up for your dog…and maybe you can sneak a couple tastes, too. Check out the recipes below!

Customizable Frozen Dog Treats

Is your dog picky when it comes to their pup-sicle flavors? Never fear – this recipe allows you to switch around flavors and adjust the recipe to your dog’s taste. You won’t have to worry about getting a bunch of new supplies, either, since the only things you need are a blender, silicone molds, and your freezer! We do recommend using a bone-shaped mold for looks, though.

Frozen Banana Dog Treats

These frozen treats combine some of our favorite summer fruits – banana, pineapple, and of course, watermelon! If your dog loves fruits, this is a great treat for them. Simply place some banana slices in a silicone mini muffin pan. Puree some pineapple and watermelon chunks and pour it over the banana slices. Put the tray in the freezer and you’ll have a sweet summer treat perfect for you or your dog!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Freezies

It’s no secret that many dogs love peanut butter, but why not add a summery twist to your pup’s favorite snack? Blend strawberries with a splash of water and pour this mixture into your ice tray. Pop the tray in your freezer and once the freezies are all frozen, take them out and spread some peanut butter on top. Peanut butter and jelly, dog-style!

Creamy Pup-Sicles

This recipe may be as close to ice cream as your pup is going to get this summer! Using plain yogurt, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and pretzel sticks, you can whip up some seriously delicious dog treats. They may not be sweet enough for us humans to enjoy, but that’s what ice cream is for, right? Your dog will be begging for more of these treats after just one lick, so be sure to make enough!

Cantaloupe Ice Cream for Dogs

Cantaloupe may not be the most traditional ice cream flavor, but don’t knock it until you try it! Plus, this recipe is about as easy as it gets: simply freeze cantaloupe, add plain yogurt, and blend it all up into a delicious frozen puree. Serve it up in your dog’s food bowl for a nice icy surprise! Quick, easy, and yummy!

This summer is going to be a hot one, so help your pup stay cool with some of these icy sweet treats. Disclaimer: we are not responsible for any resulting brain freezes!
