Celebrating Hanukkah with Your Dog

Celebrating Hanukkah with Your Dog

It is a must to include our furry friends in all parts of our lives. They have to be there to celebrate every achievement, milestone, and holiday. So, read below for ways to celebrate Hanukkah with your pup!

Dreidel Dog Toy

Though our four-legged friends can’t play a game of dreidel with us, a toy is the next best thing! No rules are required! Just lots of fun! This will help them feel included in the fun, even if they don’t realize they are playing the same game. You can also give your pal a new toy each night of Hanukkah. What’s better than being spoiled for 8 straight days?

Apparel

This adorable “nice Jewish boy” bandana is probably the cutest thing your pal can wear. Or, a simple Hanukkah-themed bandana is great too! Anything to get you and your companion in the spirit of the holiday while also looking extremely stylish is a must. Matching or coordinating outfits is a cute option too!

Doggie Latkes

The holidays are all about the food. Latkes are grated potatoes with egg, onion, and other seasonings such as garlic. However, the garlic and other oils make it off-limits for Fido. So, to make dog-friendly latkes, you will need the following:

  • 1 pound of potato
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-2 Tbs of matzo meal
  • a sprinkle of dill and parsley

Just grate your potatoes and squeeze out the extra liquid. Then, combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Scoop balls of the mixture onto a greased baking tray and flatten them into patties. Lastly, bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes on each side. Cool, and then enjoy it with your furry friend!

Doggy-Friendly Gelt

Fido can’t miss out on the delicious treats! To make doggy-friendly versions of this classic treat, you will just need unsweetened carob chips. Just melt the chips down and then pour them into molds and allow them to set in the fridge before enjoying them!

Use the ideas above as fun ways to include your companion in your Hanukkah festivities!
