It's Time to Wash Your Dogs Bed!

It’s Time to Wash Your Dogs Bed!

Your dog’s bed might look warm and cozy at first glance, but the reality is much dirtier. Doggy beds can be breeding grounds for little bugs, dirt, and allergens. Just how you should wash your sheets often, you should be cleaning your dog’s bed regularly.

Things like feces, vomit, and other bodily discharges can live in your dog’s environment, including their bed. Your dog’s bed can host icky visitors for up to a year if not cleaned properly.

Experts recommend you wash your dog’s bed at least once a week but should wash it more if your furry friend gets into something dirty. If you are prone to allergies, it is recommended that you wash it even more frequently.

Before putting the bedding in a washing machine, you should try to vacuum up as much hair as possible. Cleaning a dog bed could sound daunting, but if you invest in a dog bed that is machine washable, it makes the process much easier. Your dog’s bed might also have a removable cover that is easy to take off and on for easy washing. Check the cleaning label on your dog’s bedding to view the washing and drying instructions to keep it in the best shape. If your dog’s bedding allows it, try washing it on high heat to kill any pesky bugs that want to stick around.

In between washes, you can try to keep the bed clean by vacuuming it often and keeping your dog clean. By doing these things, you can keep your dog happy and healthy. Additionally, since their bed is in your environment, you will keep yourself healthy, too.
