Happy Thanksgiving from Our Family to Yours!
Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays here at Sit Means Sit South Denver! We like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to everyone who makes it possible for us to pursue our passion for raising happy, confident dogs. Without each and every one of you, we would not be where we are today! Now that is something to give thanks for!
As you gather with your loved ones this Thanksgiving, we encourage you to take a moment to really reflect on all of the special people, pets and opportunities that make your life complete. As animal lovers, we naturally can’t resist taking this opportunity to provide a few of our favorite holiday related Denver dog training tips. As you celebrate this holiday, we hope you will carve out some extra time to spend with your fur babies and to continue to instill their Denver dog training skills. Not sure how to prioritize your dog training amongst the hustle and bustle? Don’t miss these tips:
Schedule Time
Like anything during the holidays, it’s critical to schedule time to practice your dog training skills. As we always say at Sit Means Sit, consistency is key. Dropping the ball during the holidays can mean you and your pup lose ground on your progress. To ensure this doesn’t happen, mark time on the calendar over the Thanksgiving holiday, and throughout the month of December. Having this structure will hold you both accountable.
Ask for Help
As guests and family members arrive, explain your training goals to everyone. Ask them to avoid behavior that can compromise your training or send mix messages to your pet. Stick to the rules even when the holiday cheer is in full swing!
Take a Breather Together
One of the best gifts our pets give us is stress relief. Their loving nature can help to calm our nerves and serve as a reminder of what really matters in life. If you’re feeling stressed in preparation for Thanksgiving, or other holiday events, take time to spend with your pup. From relaxing together to playing a game of fetch or going for a run; this form of stress relief is something you can both benefit from!
