How to Get the Most Out of Group Lessons

How to Get the Most Out of Group LessonsAt Sit Means Sit, we believe group lessons are a valuable part of the dog training experience. Teaching your dog to obey, while presented with distraction is essential. What better place to hone these skills than in a group lesson?! Once your dog has mastered this skill, the sky is the limit with the tricks you can teach them in and out of a classroom environment.

However, the key to your pup’s success, in and out of the classroom, is homework! Just like any student, skills your dog learns in one of our Lakewood dog training classes must be reinforced at home. It is up to mom and/or dad to take your new skills home with you.  You truly can’t blame the dog for eating your homework in this class! It’s a team effort. Learn how you can prepare to start training a new puppy here.

How to Effectively Use Your Lakewood Group Dog Training Classes

How to Get the Most Out of Group LessonsWe can’t stress enough the importance of using your group lessons to make great strides in your training. You should use this time to make improvements in your dog’s obedience skills and to master new tricks. These classes should not be viewed as a weekly outing for your pup, but rather an opportunity to hone your skills. Get your pup’s energy out at the dog park or on a walk and then come to class to learn together!

Because the demand for group lessons is higher than ever before, it is important for all participants to understand how to get the most out of these sessions. This helps ensure that each dog gets the same amount of attention from our trainers, and no one dog takes away from others in the class.

Group Lesson Do’s:

  • Once a week to every other week is ideal.
  • Work on obedience in between group lessons.
  • Show off your dog’s improvement and praise them!

Group Lesson Don’ts:

  • Don’t use the group class in place of at home training
  • Don’t attend if you have not done your homework. Instead take the time to work on your new skills at home and come back to class when you’re ready to master something new.

Changes to Group Lessons

How to Get the Most Out of Group LessonsWe are so thankful to each and every one of you for choosing Sit Means Sit South Denver. With our physical location and more and more places becoming dog friendly throughout the state, we are seeing some heavy traffic come through our door and we love it!

With this influx in demand for group lessons, comes a need for all of us to work together to make class productive for everyone. Each dog deserves our attention during the lesson, and with limited space, we have a sign-up sheet for each class. When you sign-up, you are reserving a well-deserved spot in class. To be fair to all participants, we are implementing a $25 fee for no shows, or frequent last minute cancellations. Should you no call/no show more than 3 times, Group Lessons will no longer be available to you until further notice.

We understand life gets busy and appreciate your understanding of our new system. Thank you for respecting us, and most importantly our Sit Means Sit South Denver dogs!
