We have a 85lb. Lab that is extremely sweet but stubborn, a puller, and at times reactive towards other dogs. Us and our dog needed a brush-up on basic commands, working with his reactivity, and leash control.
Shawn truly is a dog whisperer! Once watching Shawn work with Glen (our dog) we realized maybe Glen wasn’t so badly behaved and it was us that needed more training. Shawn would train and show us how to do sit, place, and come with Glen and then we each would take a turn learning how to do it with him and how to control the leash. At the end Shawn even worked with Glen around another dog in close proximity and we’ve never seen Glen respond so well. Overall we are so grateful for Shawn and his true gift of working with dogs.
Going through training with Sit Means Sit was genuinely life changing for my dog and I. She was highly reactive and anxious when we first adopted her. We began our training with the Sit Means Sit location in Cleveland, OH and we’re welcomed to join the Sit Means Sit family here in Wilmington by Shawn. My dog absolutely adores him and loves attending his weekly group classes. They are engaging and Shawn does a wonderful job walking us through how to do the activities. It’s taken time and consistency, but we now have a lovely, friendly, and confident pup thank to Sit Means Sit. It was worth every penny and we will certainly be taking our next dog through Sit Means Sit training with Shawn. We are customers for life!
My wife and I have a 1 year old GSD who was very difficult with us. Since training with Shawn, he’s done a complete 180! Watching Shawn interact with our dog is really comforting because he works with him so good. And our dog LOVES the weekend group classes. And they help tremendously. I cant explain how much Shawn and Sit Means Sit has helped us. Our dog is more confident, my wife and I are more confident, as Shawn not only trains our dog, but also trains us how to continue to train and guide our dog. 110% would recommend to anyone! As our dog has made a complete turn around, and he still has his goofy personality.
My wife and I came to Wilmington for a weekend getaway with our 2 cavapoos, Lupo and Cannoli. We weren’t planning on doing dog training but had the opportunity to utilize Shawn’s (the dog trainer at SMS) services. Under an hour Shawn had Lupo (1 year old) listening to commands, following him, sitting, and jumping on platforms. He explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it which I really appreciated. I was afraid Lupo wasn’t going to like training but after the quick session you could tell he had a lot of fun and wanted to do more! Would highly recommend Sit Means Sit, Wilmington.
Our lab/retriever mix Phoebe was notorious for counter surfing and had no real boundaries. We finally got fed up and Sit Means Sit really turned it all around for us! Shawn is super knowledgeable and customized all the training to meet Phoebe’s needs. We’ve seen such a vast improvement in only 3 weeks of training and we have months more group classes to go! Shawn is amazing! He went above and beyond what we expected. Our fur baby is very independent and he taught us how to set boundaries. Not only did he answer all of our questions and guide us to training our dog properly, but we achieved everything in 2 weekends. I highly recommend him to anyone with a dog even if you are questioning whether or not your family would benefit from the training!
Working with Shawn was wonderful. He listened to our goals and came up with a plan and a timeline that worked for us. He was very caring and easy to work with and our dog was always excited to see him. Cant say enough good things about Shawn. I will call him again when we get our next pup!
The Sit Means Sit program enabled me to take my two dogs Gaea and Dayzee on mountain hikes without worrying about them chasing wildlife. It’s great to hike with my dogs and not worry about spooking the wildlife, thank you!
I am so pleased and impressed with Sit Means Sit in general. My Aussie puppy did a three week board-and-train since my work schedule limited my ability to go to group classes. They were very understanding and did an excellent job of explaining every aspect of their training methods, their e-collar, and were very open to questions. I met with a number of different trainers and every single one was very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. The difference in my puppy is incredible. She listens (the collar really helps), she doesn’t bite me as I walk by, and she doesn’t bark for attention. For the go-home lessons, the trainers I met with were very patient with me as I learned how to work with her, explained the e-collar and its use in detail, and gave me pointers on how to work with specific challenges I was having. Excellent service, very pleased with the results, money well spent. Sit Means Sit is my go-to for dog training because of their quality work and friendly staff.
We took our two pitbulls to Sit Means Sit for training. Sit Means Sit did a wonderful job training our dogs. Kileaux was always easily distracted and Nikita was a rambunctious puppy. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in teaching us how to work with our dogs on continued training.
It is hard to find companies that will work with pitbull puppies, let alone full grown 115+ lb pitbulls. However, Sit Means Sit never failed to make my dogs feel loved and welcomed – which was an added bonus to the amazing quality of training we received. I will absolutely be referring Sit Means Sit to friends and family!
Sit Means Sit’s training program has seriously been one of the best investments I have ever made. I picked my dog, Biggie, up last week and the changes in her behavior and previous aggression have been unbelievable! She’s a better listener, less territorial, and just an all around better behaved and happier dog!
My dog has been able to get off of her very strong anti-anxiety medication and live a better life because of the trainers at Sit Means Sit. Her quality of life, as well as mine and that of my family’s is infinitely better and for that I will be forever grateful!
