DIY Valentine’s Day Dog Treats

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, ensure your pup feels extra loved this year with some adorable heart treats! We don’t want our furry friends to feel left out of the lovey-dovey festivities, so why not make them their own special treat? We found three of the cutest and healthiest treats to celebrate another excellent Valentine’s with your fur baby!

Honey & Peanut Butter Kisses

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup of wheat flour
  • 1 cup peanut butter (unsweetened)
  • 1/3 cup of honey
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium chicken bouillon powder
  • 1/3 cup hot water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl, followed by the wet ingredients
  3. Knead and form a dough ball; add more flour if sticky
  4. Flatten out the dough with a rolling pin until 1/4 or 1/2 inch thick
  5. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil
  6. Cut out heart shapes (or a shape of your choice) from the rolled dough
  7. Bake for 10-15 mins, flipping halfway
  8. Allow cooling before serving to Fido

Strawberry Short-Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 tbsp of coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Combine flour, coconut oil, and strawberries in a medium bowl
  3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, then add to dry ingredients
  4. Mix thoroughly to form a dough ball
  5. Roll dough out to about 1/2 inch thick
  6. Cut out preferred shapes and place them on a baking sheet
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes
  8. Cool before giving it to your dog

My Heart “Beets” For You

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 sliced banana
  • 1/3 cup of steamed and chopped beets

Instructions:

  1. Prep and steam your beets for 30-40 minutes
  2. Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  3. Slice your beets and remove all skin
  4. Combine beets, applesauce, and banana in a blender and puree
  5. Place the blended mixture into a large bowl and add flour
  6. Refrigerate dough for 10 minutes (to aid in the rolling process)
  7. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out desired shapes
  8. Place on a lined baking sheet and cook for 10-12 minutes
  9. Allow cooling time before serving
