Ways To Tire Out Your Dog ASAP

Our dogs are full of energy and never fail to put us in a good mood with their goofy tricks and incessant desire to run circles around us. However, sometimes we just want our doggos to take a chill pill and relax for a second. Whether you’re stuck inside or can grab a few minutes in the outdoors, we have some ideas about how to tire out that hyper dog of yours. Check out our tips below.

Play Fetch

Fetch is a classic game to play with your favorite furry friend and for good reason: you can play fetch almost anywhere! Just grab a ball and toss it. Your dog will fetch it and bring it back to you, and you can keep playing until they get tired. Fetch isn’t too much work for you, but your hyper dog will jump on the opportunity to run after a ball, whether they’re chasing it down the hallway of your home or around your yard.

Make an Obstacle Course

Again, obstacle courses are great for their versatility — you can either set them up outdoors or inside depending on weather and your dog’s temperament. The other nice thing about obstacle courses is that you can use anything and everything to complete your ideal course. From couch cushions to chairs to branches and everything in between, there’s no limit to what you can add to your course. Your dog will love the new challenge and you can have some fun getting creative with the course.

Treat Hide and Seek

Hide and seek is easy for dogs when they’re seeking out their favorite thing – dog treats. Let them get a good sniff of the treats before you hide them, then put them in a hiding place that isn’t too difficult for them to sniff out but also isn’t in plain sight. Your dog will go crazy trying to find their prized treats, and they’ll sharpen up their minds while burning off some energy. A win-win!

Schedule a Doggy Playdate

If you can’t tire your dog out on your own, let another dog do it for you! Call up a friend and schedule a time to have their pup over to romp around with your dog. Your dog will greatly appreciate the extra social time and they’ll be tired out in no time. Plus, you’ll get time to spend with friends while the dogs mess around.

Run the Stairs

Stairs are a classic workout for us humans, so why not let our dogs in on the fun? Try placing treats at the top and bottom of the stairs in your home or apartment. Lead your dog up and down a few times and then pick up the pace. You’ll be feeling the burn and your dog will burn off some energy while you’re at it!

When it comes to tiring out a hyper dog, sometimes you just have to get a little creative. Try these ideas for entertaining your doggo and you’ll notice them calming down in no time!
