When Do Dogs Lose Their Puppy Teeth?
In the process of growing up, we humans lose our baby teeth and gain adult teeth. Dogs are the same, as they grow up they lose their baby teeth and grow adult ones.
The teething process for dogs is quite simple. Below is a timeline of the puppy teething process and what to expect as your puppy turns into an adult.
Weeks 2 to 4
Your puppy will still be with their mother when their teeth start coming in. They will still be nursing and their eyes will be opening.
Weeks 5 to 6
All of your puppies teeth should be in, and it should be about 28 teeth. They will be transitioning to soft food at this point.
Weeks 12 to 16
Your puppy will start to shed their teeth at this point. You may find crumb or rice sized teeth around your home. Offering your pup a safe chew toy will help this process be slightly less painful.
6 Months+
By 6 months all of your puppies teeth should have fallen out and their adult teeth should have grown in. If you see any baby teeth, let your vet know.
