Sit Means Sit, Denver, Obedience Testimonial

Our two Jack Russell Terriers (Rascal and Cruiser) were quite a handful. We got them when they were 8 weeks old, and had spent a lot of time training them inside the house, and for the most part, they were great at listening. When we would take them anywhere outside of the house (ie walks, park, pet store), Rascal would lead the way, and Cruiser would be right behind, almost pulling our arms out of the socket. No matter what we did, we could not get them to listen to any command outside of the house. We were searching for any type of harness or leash to help get them “under control.” We even tried a pinch collar, but threw it away within minutes of trying it because it was too painful for the dogs, and us to watch.

One day, we were searching for a head harness and leash at a locally owned pet store, and as we were trying to get the dogs to sit still, the owner of the store came up and asked if she could be of any assistance. She tried fitting the two with a head harness, and they would not sit still for anyone or anything. Rather than selling us multiple items that would not work, she recommended a professional trainer and handed us a Sit Means Sit business card. When we got home, we immediately called the number on the card. Anthony was able to see us within 30 minutes to demonstrate what was possible thru the different programs they offer.

When we arrived at his office, I noticed a Sit Means Sit van sitting in the parking lot, but didn’t pay much attention to it. We went inside and met with Anthony, where we discussed the problems we were having. Anthony brought out a collar and showed us how gentle the “shocks” were. He explained to us that “it is basically a way of tapping them on the shoulder.” Anthony then took us outside to demonstrate what he was able to do with his dogs, where I noticed the door for the van was open, and one of his dogs had been sitting there the entire time we were in the office talking. Immediately we were impressed, and immediately Rascal started to lose control.

After the demonstration with Anthony’s dogs, he pulled a collar out of his briefcase, and put it on Rascal. Within a few seconds Rascal was sitting down, right next to Anthony. We signed up, and within a week, we were doing our first one on one session. After a few one on one sessions with John, and a group “break in session” with Anthony, we could not be more pleased with our dogs. We get compliments everywhere we go about how well behaved our dogs are, and how they have never seen a more well behaved Jack Russell Terrier. I would recommend this lifetime program to anyone with a dog.
