Easy DIY Halloween Costumes for Your Dog
Whether you are hosting a Halloween party or taking your furry friend trick-or-treating, we love to include our companions in the festive fun! So, read below for easy DIY Halloween costumes you can make for your dog!
Ballerina
If your companion tends to be clumsy, dressing them up as a ballerina for Halloween is an ironically funny idea. You will need scissors, tulle, and elastic for this ballerina costume. If you’d like, you can use velcro to fasten the costume to your four-legged friend instead of slipping it over their body. Just remember not to tie the tulle to the underside of the costume to allow your pup to take potty breaks easily.
Beanie Baby
Dressing your pal up as a Beanie Baby is a fantastic way to show off their cuteness! All you will need is construction paper, scissors, and cardboard. Simply cut out the “t” and “y” from white construction paper and attach them to a red construction paper heart. Or, you can use a printer to produce the design. For more stability, attach the heart to a piece of cardboard. Then, attach it to your canine’s collar, and you are ready for the festivities to begin!
Ewok
This costume idea is insanely simple and doesn’t require a sewing machine, just scissors! So, use a teddy bear that is about the same height as your four-legged friend. Then, remove the stuffing from the head of the bear. Next, cut a hole through the front and back of the head to allow your furry friend’s adorable face to poke through. So cute and easy!
Lego
This costume is super simple to make and has multiple approaches to achieve the look. You can use a cardboard box and toilet paper tubes or plastic cups and then paint the material to give it the signature bright lego color. Or, you can use foam sheets and cylinders that are already colored. Then, simply use elastic to secure the costume around your furry friend’s torso and you are all set!
Martini
If your furry friend is in a cone collar or doesn’t mind wearing one, this idea is neat! All you will need for this costume is a cone collar, foam balls, non-toxic green paint, red felt, glue, and a wooden dowel. Although this is a super easy costume, it will still get all the compliments from other party guests!
Shark Attack
If you are looking for a cute duo costume idea to share with your dog, this is for you! Or, you can just dress your pal up as a lone shark. All you will need is a foam board, a strip of stretchy fabric, self-adhesive velcro strips, and scissors to make your pal into the king of the ocean. Cut the foam board into the shape of a dorsal fin and attach it to stretchy fabric that is cut to the circumference of your canine’s midsection.
Spider
For this simple yet festive costume, you will need thick black pipe cleaners. Simply wrap the pipe cleaner around your dog’s collar and shape it into that classic spider leg shape. You can use less pipe cleaners for smaller dogs, but, spiders traditionally have 8 legs! No matter how many legs your spider-dog has they will still be just as cute.
