Ideas for Summer Fun with Your Dog

Ideas for Summer Fun with Your Dog

The sun is shining, the days are longer, and you have much more time to spend with your dog! The question is, what activities can you include your dog in this summer? We have plenty of fun ideas for you and your furry friend to enjoy this summer. Check them out below!

Splash Around

Most dogs love being in the water, but if you don’t have access to a pool or lake, getting your dog some water time can be pretty difficult! Try some sprinkler time or even getting your dog a kiddie pool to wade and splash around in. Bring the hose and spray them down for added fun. Your dog will love getting to splash around even more if you join in the activity!

Treasure Hunt

Try hiding treats around your living room or yard (don’t be too tough when hiding them!) for your pup to fetch. They’ll love the challenge of tracking down the scent and retrieving the rewarding treat. You can also try bringing your pup along when you go geocaching. Geocaching is a popular way to use technology to hunt down mystery treasure pieces. While it’s fun alone, bringing your dog makes it much more exciting. They’ll love getting some time outdoors and the challenge will stimulate their brain.

Go Camping

Summer nights under the stars with our most loyal companions by our side? Yes please. Take a weekend trip to the great outdoors and spend some time singing around the campfire and roasting s’mores with your dog. Many parks welcome dogs onto their premises, but always check before embarking on your journey. Even if the great outdoors aren’t for you, you can always limit your time outdoors to a simple picnic or hike.

Hit the Beach

Dog beaches are growing in popularity, and we highly recommend that you visit one! Your dog won’t be able to get enough of the sun, sand, and surf. Going to the beach is a great way to burn some of your dog’s energy and you can get some of your own relaxation time while you’re at it. Be sure to bring the proper sun protection for your dog, including dog sunscreen. You should also make sure your dog can swim before sending them out alone in the water! With the proper safety measures, going to the beach is one of our favorite summer activities with our dogs.

Visit Doggie Bakeries

On days when your pup is craving a sweet treat, we recommend visiting one of East Bay’s wonderful dog bakeries! You’ll be amazed at the variety of treats available for your dog to enjoy. Who knows, you might even be inspired to cook up some treats of your own!
