Thanksgiving is all about the food for us! However, keep in mind what foods are safe and which are dangerous to your companion. Read below to know the foods to keep away from Fido.
Grapes/Raisins
Salads or stuffing containing raisins or grapes or off-limits to your pup. Small amounts can cause vomiting and nausea. However, in large amounts, they can cause kidney failure.
Turkey Bones
Bones are a hazard for dogs because it can lead to choking or bowel obstruction. The bones could even puncture your pup’s intestines. So, it is best to not give your pal bones as a treat and ensure they won’t dig them out of the trashcan.
Onions and Garlic
These foods are toxic whether they are raw, cooked, or powdered. Onions and garlic damage red blood cells in your pup, which decreased oxygen flow and can cause organ damage.
Mashed Potatoes
Plain potatoes are safe for your pup. However, if you add onion or garlic powder, this makes them dangerous. Additionally, adding butter or milk can cause diarrhea if your pal can not tolerate lactose. So, it is better to avoid this food all together.
Salt and Sugar
Excess salt can cause excessive thirst, urination, and even sodium lead poisoning. So, keep things such as chips or pretzels out of reach. Additionally, desserts are off limits too. Not only is chocolate dangerous but so is artificial sweeteners.
