Belgian Malinois learns to Focus

Your Name: Chris

Dog’s Name: Gibbs

City: Verona

Breed: Belgian Malinois

Likes: Chasing critters in the backyard, going to the dog park and swimming.

Pet Peeves: Crows that mock him from the trees in the backyard.

Favorite Toy: Any toy that contains a treat.

Favorite Treat: Jerky strips

Best Trick: Pushing the toy containing treats down the stairs so that treats fall out as the toy bounces from stair to stair.

Arrival Story: We picked Gibbs from a litter of 14 puppies in a whirlwind weekend drive to Columbus, Nebraska over the 4th of July holiday in 2011. We picked this breed because we were looking for a dog that would protect the family without being overly aggressive. Plus we knew the breed was extremely smart and would be relatively easy to train.

Motto: Why go around it when you can go through it. His motto is self-explanatory.

Why Training/ Sit Means Sit: Gibbs has lots of energy that needs to be positively focused. He is a large dog that appears intimidating to those who don’t know how friendly he actually is. We selected Sit Means Sit because we had seen several training videos on You Tube and were impressed with how well the dogs appeared to be trained.
