Pilots to the Rescue: Who They Are & What They’ve Accomplished

Have you ever wanted to use your skills for good? Or even help animals across the world? Well, some pilots are using their flight skills to help those in need. This group is called Pilots to the Rescue.

Who Are Pilots to the Rescue?

Pilots to the Rescue is a nonprofit organization by Michael Schneider about 10 years ago. Schneider is a pilot who has always had an affinity toward animals. Growing up, his parents were rescue advocates and always adopted their pets from shelters. Later, Schneider began to skydive as a hobby and got his pilot’s license. then, he combined his two passions.

What Do They Do?

The nonprofit organization supports a network of volunteer pilots who save animals from kill shelters and relocate them. They try to fit as many animals as they can on each mission. Additionally, a flight can hold up to 10 large dogs or 50 cats. However, the association still follows all transportation guidelines to keep the animals safe and comfortable. Also, this year they have already flown 41 missions and saved 508 animals.

How Can I Help?

The organization accepts donations and they can make a big difference in supporting their efforts. This is especially true with the cost of private air travel and the cost of gas increasing. Additionally, if you are able, hands-on help is also encouraged.

Pilots to the Rescue is working toward spreading awareness about the problem of euthanizing shelter animals. In the process, they are also helping to save these animals. Volunteers and donations are wanted! So, consider contributing what you can to their fantastic cause!
