Dog Zoomies: A Full Guide

FRAPS
Technically and scientifically, the zoomies are called frenetic random activity periods, or FRAPS. This is when your furry friend will run wild laps around your home or yard or even spin in circles. While the function of the zoomies is still unknown, there are theories as to why your furry friend gets the FRAPS.
Why Do Dogs Get Zoomies?
FRAPS allows your dog to relieve stress, release excitement, and exert stored-up energy. Zoomies can happen when your pal gets enthusiastic about seeing another dog, after you come home, after a bath, after grooming, after going potty, after being inside or in their crate for a while, or can be caused by stress.
Are Zoomies Frequent?
The zoomies normally only last a few minutes. Additionally, this activity is more common in puppies and younger dogs. But, some dogs continue to have the zoomies their whole lives. Additionally, if your furry friend seems to get the zoomies very frequently or at inappropriate times (such as while you are sleeping), that is not normal. This can be a sign that your companion needs more physical exercise or mental stimulation. This way, your four-legged friend will release all the energy they need to during the day and will be able to have a great and restful night’s sleep when you do!
What Should I Do About It?
Zoomies are normal, so, just enjoy your watching your furry friend act a little silly for these periods. However, if your pal is running around an unsafe place with hazardous objects, you should try to safely redirect your furry friend. You can do this by running away from them so they will chase you to a safer spot. Or, you can toss a toy in the direction you want your pal to go and away from any hazards. However, do not chase your dog while they have the zoomies! This will only make them more excited and harder to calm down.
