Halyburton Park
This gorgeous park is perfect for a scenic stroll with your furry friend. This park includes a 1.3-mile nature walk that showcases the beautiful sights and sounds of North Carolina. The trail is through a serene forest and is mostly shaded. This park also includes a picnic area, a playground, and a dog water fountain!
Abbey Nature Trail
The Abbey Nature trail takes you through the serene 67-acre Abbey Nature preserve. This 2.4 nature will guide you through the preserve’s beautiful forest. It will also take you over the mill’s pond. This gorgeous historical preserve is a great way to spend a day with your furry friend.
Riverwalk
Located in downtown historic Wilmington, this boardwalk lets you take in the sights of the Cape Fear River. While the boardwalk is more populated than other spots on our list, it’s still an amazing place to walk your pooch. This boardwalk runs about 2 miles, starting on Nun Street and ending on the Isabel Holmes Bridge. There are also many spots to park along the Riverwalk, allowing you to start or stop your journey whenever you please.
Greenfield Lake Park Trial

Gary Shell Cross City Trail
The longest trail on our list, this 13.8-mile loop is for pet owners who love a little adventure. This trail is a point-by-point trial, meaning it has many entrances and exits at different locations. It also has many branching options for your walk. This trail has starting points located in Halyburton Park, Empie Park, and McCrary Park, but the official entrance is at James EL Wade Park.
