The Most Affectionate Dog Breeds

Every dog is unique and shows its love in many different ways. We all love a pup that will curl up on the couch or give lots of kisses when we get home, but some are more affectionate than others. If you’re looking for a pup that will provide you with undivided love and affection, this is the list! For more information on each breed, click the links for each American Kennel Club page.

Great Dane

Despite being the largest dog breed globally, Great Danes are gentle giants! They are usually unaware of their large stature and will think they are little lap dogs. These pups are overly loyal and protective of their owners.

Labrador Retriever

No surprise here! Labs are easily one of the most intelligent and most loyal breeds out there. They will become best friends with anyone willing to play fetch! These pups are great with kids and other dogs; they are highly friendly and easy to care for.

Golden Retriever

Another unsurprising front-runner, Golden Retrievers are the most popular family dog of all time. These smiley pups love to give kisses and run around the yard for hours. Goldies are also the number one choice for service and guide dogs because they are incredibly loyal and want nothing more than to protect their owners.

Boxer

Boxers never grow out of their puppy phase. These canines are upbeat and very rambunctious! Boxers have never-ending energy that makes them great for households with children. Fido will enjoy any activity as long as they are with their humans.

German Shepard

If you’re looking for a pet that will match your intelligence, get a German Shepard. GSD are brilliant pets that will give you a run for your money! These loyal furry friends are a great family addition, and they will fit right in and become one of the pack. German Shepards need lots of socialization and exercise to prevent any destructive habits.

Brussels Griffon

Lastly and certainly the smallest, Brussels Griffons are tiny but mighty! These pint-sized pups are full of attitude and devotion. Although they aren’t recommended for families with small children, they thrive as only children or other furry friends.

No matter what dog breed you choose, Fido will love you endlessly! There are hundreds of breeds with different levels of affection; you should always do your research to find a furry companion that will fit your lifestyle and family dynamic before adopting.
