Group Class Description

Below is more information on the classes listed above.

AMRAP We will have obstacle items set up around the facility with the idea being to get around as many of them as possible. Prepare for lots of “sits”, “downs”, and “weaving”.
BINGO! Handlers will have a Bingo sheet and tasks are randomly drawn for dog and handler teams. Prizes are given out when a Bingo is made!
Box Drill All dogs will be put in a box formation around the room and given a number. Trainers will randomly call out numbers and those handlers will move to a designated area. Today we’re focusing on being able to keep control with lots of movement while in close quarters with other dogs.
Canine Good Citizen Prep  We host this Canine Good Citizen preparation class shortly before offering a CGC test. Whether or not you plan to test, these are all practical skills. Click here for a listing of the ten items on the CGC test.
Country Line Dancing Are you ready to tire out your pup with little movement and lots of focus? If so, this class is for you! The class is designed to have your dog control their sit, down, and turns while maintaining a heel position with hind end awareness.
Crazy Weave Random objects will be placed around the facility and dogs are “placed” on each of them. The rest of the class forms a line and makes up their own weave through the “placed” dogs. This class is designed to have your dog control their sit, down, or place in a chaotic environment.
Crosstown Traffic This class will have your dog calmly walking past many dogs in a few formats. Dogs will be placed on place boards and one dog will walk by all the dogs. Upon reaching end, all dogs will advance one spot. Dogs may also be placed on 2 sides of the room, your dog placed at one end and then you’ll move away and call your dog to you. This is a great way to see how far your dog can confidently walk past other dogs on their own (from a few feet to then entire length).
Darts for Dogs No worries, there are no darts. A giant “dart board” will be outlined on the center of the facility floor. Handlers will “sit” their dogs on one end of the dart board, the handler will walk to the other side of the room, then call their dog. Mid-travel, the goal is to tell your dog to “sit” as close to the center of the bullseye as possible. This class is focused on sitting dogs at a distance.
CGC Prep  We host this Canine Good Citizen preparation class shortly before offering a CGC test. Whether or not you plan to test, these are all practical skills. Click here for a listing of the ten items on the CGC test.
Musical Placeboards Placeboards will be set up around the room and dogs start off on “place”. Just like musical chairs, when the music stops all dogs go to a placeboard and perform a task. The last person to complete the task is out. Those no longer in the running will continue the tasks on the outside of the musical placeboard circle.
Pac Man Fun an interactive, just like you remember from the 80’s! This class is designed to help with control and movement without relying on the use of your leash. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to use your leash!
Place for Points There will be several different objects set up to “place” your dog on. Lots of different objects . . . from short to tall, and even some that move. So get your dog ready – start practicing your “place” command on as many objects as possible and join us for some friendly competition.
Potpourri This is collection of short exercises. We may do some, all, or just a portion of the following: Figure 8’s, Shuttle runs, rock/paper/scissors, hot potato, red light/green light, sally up and down, leash management, simon says, etc.
Relay Race Everyone will be divided into teams. This class will focus on working within a team and improving commands such as “come”, “sit’, “down”, and “place”. Come join us for some competitive fun!
Silent Group Class Minimal talking will be allowed during the entire class. Handlers will focus on using body language and consistency to get their dog to perform the task instead of a lot of talking.
Tic Tac Toe Today’s class is based on the standard tic-tac-toe game with a board being set up on the facility floor. The group will be divided into two groups – one team will “sit” their dogs (X’s) and one team will “down” their dog (O’s). To win, you must get 3 dogs on your team in a row. If your dog breaks their command, they must fix the command and then exit the board. The next round will begin.
Trail Walk (Seasonal) Dress for the weather as we hope to do a trail walk. However, if inclement weather is upon us, the trainer will decide an inside class.
Waiting at the Vet Chairs will be set up around the room with typical vet distractions occurring. This class is designed to teach handlers on how to have their dogs sit politely while waiting for their appointment.
