Dog-Friendly Summer Activities

Summertime is perfect for exploring new activities and making memories with your favorite furry friend. But it’s easy to get into a slump on what to do with your pup, that’s dog-friendly. Of course there are the old-faithfuls like playing fetch, going on a hike, or taking a swim, but if you want to do something different, look no further!

Pet Portrait Photoshoot

There are endless themes to choose from like the classic western cowboy, to something new like tropical tourist, or a baseball fan! Whichever you choose from don’t forget to decorate your shooting space accordingly and bring along some treats, and commands, to get your dog’s attention to snap the most adorable pictures!

How To: Tropical Tourist Photoshoot

Make Frozen Dog Treats

Making dog treats is much easier than you may think, and it’s a healthy snack for your pooch to try! Homemade frozen dog treats will help your pup cool off in the heat and provide them with a delicious treat made with love. Check out this list of frozen treats you can make for your dog!

Have A Puppy Party

The best way to beat the heat is with some friends! Invite some guests over and tell them to bring along their furry friends! You can spice up your normal summer bbq by incorporating a theme too, like Christmas in summer! Try a dog toy exchange between the pooches for some extra fun and adorable picture-worthy memories!

Bobbing For Treats

Try out this unique take on bobbing for apples, but with dog treats! It’s a fun way to incorporate water activities for your dog to enjoy while also stimulating their curiosity. Fill up a kiddie pool with a small amount of water and toss a few treats, or slices of dog-friendly fruits in, and watch your pup bob for treats! You can even try out this activity by filling the kiddie pool with bigger plastic balls instead of water.

Paint Paw Art

There’s no doubt you’ve seen some adorable paw print art, but how can you do it with your dog? Well, it’s easy! Get a big-medium-sized canvas (if your dog is lighter) or a large piece of paper and some nontoxic paint (try paint made for kids). Dip your pup’s paws in the paint or brush it on and encourage them to walk calmly across the surface. This will leave you with some unique artwork to show off! Make sure to wash off your dog’s paws as soon as you’re done painting to avoid any mess!
