National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is this year on April 30th! So, if you live in the Dallas area, read below for a list of local shelters where you can adopt a dog on this special occasion! 

Operation Kindness

Operation Kindness assists animals in need of companionship, medical care, and a home. Additionally, it provides foster care, affordable veterinary services, and a pet food pantry. The adoption center is located at 16821 Coit Road and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.! Check out this awesome shelter if you are looking to adopt a companion!

Dallas Pets Alive

The Dallas Pet Alive organization is a no-kill shelter that has foster, volunteer, and adoption opportunities. Their mission is to promote and provide the resources, education, and rescue programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals in North Texas. Additionally, they have saved thousands of pet’s lives and can help connect you with a lifelong companion. 

Humane Society of Dallas County

The goal of the Humane Society is to promote adoption and provide a safe, healthy, and compassionate environment for the cats and dogs of Dallas County for as long as needed. So, you can donate, volunteer, foster, or adopt to make a huge difference for animals in need! 

Dallas 90

For this year’s National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, you can volunteer, foster, or adopt a pet from the Dallas 90 Animal Shelter. The shelter is located at 1818 North Westmoreland Road and is happy to welcome you in if you are interested in adopting a furry friend!

East Lake Pet Orphanage

The East lake Pet Orphanage has cats, dogs, pigs, pocket pets, and special needs pets available for adoption! The shelter is open daily from 7 am to 9 pm and is located at 10101 E. Northwest Hwy. Additionally, you can donate to or volunteer at the orphanage to help animals in need!
