How To Organize The Perfect Easter Egg Hunt For Fido

How to Organize the Perfect Easter Egg Hunt for Fido

Easter time means it’s time for egg hunts! Read below to learn how to organize the perfect Easter egg hunt for your furry friend!

Gather Eggs

When hunting for Easter eggs, your pup can search for all-natural or traditional plastic eggs. Hard-boiled eggs are full of protein and amino acids that are great for your canine! Either use a non-toxic dye or skip it altogether. It is important to note that one or two eggs may be all your pal should eat in a day.

If you use traditional plastic eggs, be sure to choose eggs large enough for your furry friend not to swallow them. Additionally, if they don’t already, drill or poke a small hole at the top of the egg so your furry friend can smell the prize inside! Furthermore, once your pal finds an egg, open it for them so they can have their treat.

If neither of these options sounds like they will work for your pup, you can also use KONG toys or other stuffable toys!

Pick A Treat

Next, pick a yummy treat to stuff inside your Easter eggs! For this activity, the smellier the treat, the better it is to seek! However, the less smelly the treat, the more advanced the challenge. You can use your pup’s favorite treat or stuff them with dog-friendly foods!

Find The Perfect Location

Your selected location should be large enough to spread the eggs but not too large, as your pup may get distracted during the search. Furthermore, you should stay away from roads and other hazards. You can use areas such as a dog park, your backyard, or an indoor dog park.

Hide The Eggs

Dogs can’t see the wide range of colors that we can. So, you don’t have to hide your eggs very thoroughly because your canine will use its sense of smell to solve this challenge! Remember, if you are using plastic eggs, open them for your furry friend once they find their hidden treat. You can use this as a training exercise and reward your companion with an extra treat when they bring each egg to you to open!

Have Fun!

Lastly, you can invite some other canine companions to turn your fun into a puppy party! Keep in mind your four-legged friend’s limitations and who they will be comfortable around. If you have a small group, let each dog take turns hunting for their own eggs. Plus, it can be a good idea to keep your pup on a leash to ensure they don’t eat anything that they shouldn’t.
