How You Can Celebrate National Cook for Your Pet Day

When we bring a dog into our home, they become part of our family. We love them like children and we are always looking for ways to celebrate and spoil our fur babies. We can do this by buying them toys, taking them on special walks, and even cooking for them!

November 1st is National Cook for Your Pet Day! So if you are looking to get in the holiday spirit, here is how you can celebrate this special day.

Recipes

Crockpot Chicken and Brown Rice

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 pound broken green beans
  • 1 medium sweet potato cut into chunks
  • 3 sliced carrots
  • 2 boneless chicken breasts

The directions for making this delicious pet-friendly recipe are simple! Put all of your ingredients into a crockpot and cook! You can cook this meal on low for 8 hours or on high for 5 hours.

Once it’s done cooking, stir, let it cool, and your pet can enjoy it! If you have a picky eater on your hands, you can substitute any of the vegetables or the protein for something your pup prefers more. Make it in bulk and put it in the fridge to be enjoyed all week!

Meatloaf

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs hard-boiled and shelled
  • 2 ounces shaved parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 ounce chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 3 ounces breadcrumbs
  • 1 pound minced beef
  • 4 ounces fresh or frozen peas
  • 5 ounces of finely sliced carrots

Another easy recipe for your pooch! Steam the carrots and peas and then mix in the meat, breadcrumbs, tomato puree, parsley, and beaten eggs. Then fold in the veggies.

Roll this mixture into a ball and divide it in half. Place half of the mixture into a greased pan and push down making a dip in the center. In this dip, put in the cheese and hard-boiled eggs.

Once you’ve done that, cover it with the rest of the mixture. Cover the top in foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1/5 hours.

Let it cool, sprinkle with parsley for an added touch and serve! Your pup will be barking for me!
