Keeping Your Floor Clean from Dirty Paws

If you have kids, you know how hard it is to keep floors clean. You run after them cleaning up the mess, and just when you have it spotless again, bam! Bingo runs right after them tracking mud everywhere. You can teach your kids how to wipe their feet and take their muddy shoes off, but it’s much harder to do that with Bingo. It’s not totally hopeless, though. There are some things you can do to keep your floors clean from dirty paws.

Designated Door

If you have multiple entrances to your house, designate one to your dog and keep a shallow bin or bucket of water next to it. This controls the direction of the mess and even lets you catch the dirt before it spreads. When choosing a door, pick the cleanest one. So, if you have to choose between the garage and the backyard, choose the garage. Before your dog enters the door, dip their paws into the water to give them a rinse. Then dry each foot off with a rag or towel to make sure they don’t slip on your tile.

Doggie Door Mat

If you only have one entrance, or if you don’t want to constantly refill a bucket of water, then invest in a doggie door mat. Soggy Doggy Doormats has a variety of plush, absorbent (or rough for dirt) doormats to choose from in tons of colors. They work the same way as normal doormats, of course, so the only thing you have to do is make sure they use it. If you want more options, you can opt for a regular doormat that’s made of rubber for washability.

Dog Booties

You could also invest in some dog booties. They’re stylish and practical, and you can have multiple for rain or shine – or one pair for both! They are designed for a variety of climates, so make sure that when you purchase them, they fit your needs. Once they get dirty, you can wash them. This cuts out the need to constantly wash your dog and makes your job easier. Here are our picks for the best dog booties
