Not sure where to begin ... I've always had a dog with me. My last dog was a Lab that I got at 8 weeks old. I trained and raised him to be a good-mannered dog. After 8 years he contracted cancer and we had to put him down. I didn't want another dog for a good while, but I had an opportunity to save a pittie mix from a kill shelter. It was obvious from the start that she was mistreated. She feared everything and everyone, from car doors closing to the ceiling fan being on. I was over my head, I've never adopted an adult dog before and she clearly had issues that I didn't know how to overcome. After doing my research, I contacted 3 dog trainers. 2 just threw prices at me and Sit Means Sit was only one who invited me to stop by for an evaluation. Obviously, we went with Sit Means Sit. They evaluated our dog, asked questions and listened to our concerns. I was impressed with Abby and Terra. Within a week, we saw the change with our dog and at the end of training her leash skills, recall and commands improved as well as her confidence. Very satisfied with SMS. We still take her now for daycare and will continue to do so. Totally recommend SMS. oh, and she loves the staff and gets excited every time we go back.
This team is great and very helpful. I am glad I took my girl in for training. The biggest benefit for me and my girl was their help for me to create consistency in how I lead her. I'm still working on it. They're post training events are really helpful too. They were able to help me control her tendency to think small dogs were toys and attempting to protect me when there wasn't a threat. She now knows some new commands beyond the basics. I would definitely recommend them. I had to get used to the collar. They helped me understand how to effectively use it.
Stella is my first rescue and the first few months I had her she was a little crazy! I have seen so much improvement with her because of SMS. The staff is so awesome and Stella loves each one of them! I thought she had pretty good behavior in the house from the moment I got her but she’s much more obedient inside and ESPECIALLY outside of the house after a few months of training. Thank you guys!! Here are some photos from her pupdates :)
I found Sit Means Sit because my wild German shepherd, Hank, was anxiety inducing, he had major leash reactivity, lunged and barked at every dog, and wouldn’t listen to me all. After the training program- I actually enjoy walking my dog! I can take Hank to outdoor restaurants and patios with friends to relax. Instead of reacting negatively to other dogs, he looks to me for reassurance. He is still my goofy and wild boy, but the training gave us such a strong bond that he trusts, respects, and listens to me. I still use their boarding to this day. Hank loves them, I love them, I can’t say enough good things. Thank you guys for giving my boy and me everything we needed!!
5 /5 Experience with a very knowledgeable staff.
The team at SMS was amazing. The training and care for my German Shepard was 10/10. I highly recommend them!
Good small facility where our dog is not part of a massive herd. The only test is "he loves it".
Absolutely love Sit Means Sit! My pup came in with low confidence and very timid and she has come leaps and bounds. I love the day training option, I didn’t like the idea of sending my girl off for weeks at a time, here I am filled in as her training progresses. Now she sprints up to the door, ready for school!
This was my first time boarding my 7 month old mini Aussie. Needless to say, she is quite a handful. Sit means Sit was so loving and kind to her and she came back to me all played out. I love the daily report cards and we are very excited to start her private training!
Clean place, reasonably priced services. My dog received play time throughout the day and I received an updated report card each day with a photo. They do have cameras that are monitored during the night so that there's always someone keeping an eye out.
Love this place! One of the best in Dallas! They care about you and your pet.
The team at Sit Means Sit is amazing. They quickly identified the challenges my rescue pup was having and began addressing them immediately. I saw positive improvement within days. Everyone is so helpful and very responsive.
Excellent trainers! Would 100% recommend!
My dog Enzo learned so much from his stay at Sit Means Sit and he fell in love with all the wonderful people that work there. He was subsequently adopted by another couple, bc he was my foster dog, and they claim, they have never had such a well behaved dog! Thanks Sit Means Sit! 10 / 10
Amazing staff, our golden loves his visits to SMS, gets to play with his buddies that he met during his training process.
My dog Franklin loves Sit means sit! We trust them to take great care of him and train him while we are out of town. Their new facility is awesome too!Thank you!
We love Sit Means Sit! Our dog gets so excited to go and it’s so fun to get his “pupdates.” My kids and I gather around the phone to look at pics of him and his friends playing together :) we also love the new facility!! Very happy with our experience here.
The team was very professional. The boarding and training was kind and successful. We are continuing the training to ensure my girl is happy and safe. Recommend this team and their methods.
Austin, Taz and the team at Northwest location are the best. Their made a big difference in our Una’s behavior. She’s loves everyone there.
Can not say enough great things about SMS. Trainers were all awesome gave me the confidence to handle my Tyson. They were patient and you can tell they love what they do. If you are struggling with a reactive dog give them a call it will be life changing for both you and your fur baby.
Everyone at SMS has been amazing to work with. Boo isn’t a fan of new people but responded really well to Candice and Taz. We look forward to the transitional group classes to continue to learn, grow and refine all the foundational skills Boo has learned. SMS provided us with the tools, assurances and knowledge to continue this journey with Boo
My German Shepherd started with trainer Candice at 5 months old. She has been very patient and helpful in training my pup. My pup is currently in group classes and it's going well! He is making a lot of progress at home and I'm excited to see him continue to learn with Sit Means Sit.
Candice is pawesome! She worked well with our wild pup and answered our questions thoroughly!
Our Lab attended a Board and Train program with Sit Means Sit. We continue to work with Candace and fine tune our training for our Lab. She understands the lessons require repetition and patience. She listens to your concerns and give positive feedback to your needs. She provides encouragement to you and your pup. Candace is an amazing trainer! I recommend Sit Means Sit!
Thank you so much Mike, Candace and Josh I was extremely satisfied with the training as well as the professionalism. The results were effective immediately, I highly recommend sit means sit to any one who is looking for a dog trainer in San Antonio you will not be disappointed!
Did A four day program for my GSD since he already had prior training but was showing some aggression issues with certain people, in the four days Mike, Cadence, Josh were amazing with every detail when I picked him up and a huge change in his behavior . They were also good about giving updates during the day these are the best dog trainers in San Antonio will be bringing him back for further training.
I enrolled in the Extreme Day training program which I felt was best for Theo and me. He got one on one training with a trainer during the day and I got to be part of the training at the end of the day. Theo has gotten much better about pulling in the leash and having confidence in himself. The program/staff worked with my work schedule and Theo always seems to have a blast (bonus he was tired when we got home). Everyone on board was very kind and patient (both to canine and human) and would highly recommend. Bonus the staff would text me updates and send some photos which I love. I attended the NorthWest location
After researching many options, sit means sit was the best fit for us because it works! We love all the trainers here and feel like part of the family. We have had so much fun taking our dog to training that our family had to get two more fur babies to take to training. The northwest facility is super nice and has a great space both indoors and outdoors to train with the dogs. Would definitely recommend to all family and friends.
Sit means Sit Cibolo location has been absolutely wonderful with my pup Raven! The puppy classes have helped tremendously and the trainers have been so fantastic at not only teaching Raven but myself as well. I just signed up for the next set of training and can't wait to start. I've had interactions with Austin and Chelsea in scheduling and appointments and Brook and Taz have been those working with Raven and I. Im so impressed by all of them. I am so glad I chose Sit means Sit. It's been a life saver! I would highly recommend them!
SMS transformed my willful, furniture chewing, hard to control dog into a companion that I can take on walks, to visit friends and enjoy. My dog is only a year old so he still has a lot to learn. I am planning to participate in group classes, which I anticipate will improve both my dog owner skills and my dog’s social skills.
Great dog training staff (both our dogs, my wife and I think they are great), very convenient location, and worth the money since our dogs are pretty well behaved now. But it is what you put into it. If you are serious about it and are willing to stick with what they tell you to do you will get amazing results. Both our dogs went thru and continue weekly classes.
Have had great success with this training group!
I literally could not be happier with this program, the facilities, and especially the trainers! I have three Labrador Retrievers and my oldest dog, Ziggy, who is now almost 7 years old, went through the training when he was 18 months old. I had never been a dog owner as an adult but had grown up with dogs. Ziggy had a great personality but was 100 pounds and as stubborn as an ox. I would almost be in tears trying to walk him and get him to not jump on people when they came in my house. Now, almost 6 years after completing training, I can still walk him off leash just as well as when he finished the program. I personally have no fear that he will run away or interact with another dog unless I give him permission (this is all part of the commands that you learn in the training program. Saying break is their signal that they are free to run about and do whatever they want until you give the next command). My next lab, Bowie, is 18 months old and he did the four day jumpstart program when he was about 6 months old since I was familiar with the e-collar and the commands. He is an anxious dog so we still have some things that we are working through, but in terms of training, he is a star pupil and so incredibly well-behaved and trained. My youngest lab, Major, is eight months old and he did the sleep away board and train for just under two weeks at the Cibolo location. When I say he is the best trained dog (aside from the trainers’ personal dogs of course haha) I have ever met I am not exaggerating. He is still a young and energetic puppy, but he knows his basic commands so well and can already walk in a perfect heel by my side with or without a leash. I will periodically send the boys to board and review when I am out of town for a long weekend as a refresher and I am constantly learning new things from the trainers. I am excited to continue group classes with my two youngest dogs!! With this review is a photo of all of my dogs, which was actually very easy to get because “place” is one of their commands and it means sit where I tell you to sit until you get the “break” command lol. And the photo of just my chocolate lab, Major, shows what the e-collar looks like on him.
Excellent training! Trainers are highly knowledgeable and friendly. I enrolled my pup in a 3 week board and train with great results! Highly recommend!!!
I love how friendly and knowledge everyone is. I haven't seen my dog with other dogs in such a long time. He's come along way. Thank you so much Sit Means Sit and all the employees there. I couldn't have asked for more. Extremely happy dog mom!!
Our dogs have made tremendous progress with Sit Means Sit. It is a wonderful program, with great results!
Mona the Goldendoodle and I are proud Sit Means Sit alumni!! Before board and train, she was a demon puppy and now her manners match her angel looks while still maintaining her sweet personality. We also love continuing to come to group classes to practice our skills and ask specific questions about how to improve from the amazing, helpful staff. Highly recommend!
Since I have moved to Florida this has been the ONLY place I board my dog. I appreciate Tina and the staff for always making the process quick and easy.
The trainers and staff are wonderful. Very knowledgeable and always willing to help. They did an amazing job training our puppy Tucker. He is a rescue and was found on the streets. Sit Means Sit trained him for 3 months before we got him and he is the best dog we could ask for! He listens to commands, is friendly to other people and dogs, and loves to snuggle! We will continue taking Tucker to group classes where he can learn and socialize with other dogs.
I have had the pleasure to have my babygirl, Nebula (and including myself) trained. I enrolled her into the 20 day training package. I have had the first 10 days completed and I am absolutely blown away on how well behaved and obedient my girl is. As a single ‘dog mother,’ it makes my life easier, gives me peace of mind and builds our bond as we continue to train together. The staff are wonderful., hard working and kind. They really take the time to understand your needs and give you many ways to handle different situations. Don’t just treat your pup; treat yourself too and tell them Nebula sent you!
We 100% recommend sit means sit! We have used them now for both of our dogs & it was well worth it each time. We sent our 11 month puppy for board and train & he come back knowing more than we could have expected. We also used them in the years prior for our 4 year old shepherd. He’s now fully off leash trained, and can be trained in any environment without a collar. Amazing team, and truly care about the dogs. They go above and beyond.
We have been so pleased with Sit Means Sit training for our 2 dogs, almost 2 year old Kenai and almost 3 year old Cooper. We decided to put them both in the 10 day board and train program. It is evident that the trainers really care about the dogs and want the dogs to be successful. The trainers also just love on your dogs as if they are their own. A special shout-out to Kevin who we worked closely with. He is great!! Both of our dogs had a number of behaviors that have been corrected to include pulling on leash, dog reactivity, not being able to sit still… the list goes on and on. We feel much more confident taking them out in public and having people in our home. We are excited for group trainings!
We have had a great experience with sit means sit!! We did the 20-day board and train. Our trainer Kevin did a great job with our big ol’ puppy Billy, and our family has loved the follow ups and the genuine care the staff has for the dogs they train. Billy is a labradoodle, so he has the typical skin sensitivity that tends to happen with doodles and he has experienced some irritation with the collar they provided. We let Kevin know about it and they immediately provided a new collar and gave up tips to help with any irritation. Love them!!
We can’t say enough about the training our Bernedoodle received at Sit Means Sit! I loved that she received training both in and outside of the facility to practice with real world distractions. Plus the trainers are so knowledgeable and provide so much support. Before her training, our Bernie would jump, pull on walks, and get into everything. After her training, she is calm, attentive, and relaxed on her walks. Now we just get to enjoy loving her instead of policing her. Thank you Sit Means Sit!
Investing in this training was the best decision we could have made for our puppy. Although we were nervous about e-collar training at first, the staff did a great job educating us about how gentle and effective it can be. We signed up for the 10-day overnight camp and it was transformative. He completely nailed a list of new commands, learned to focus his attention on us in distracting environments, and stopped pulling on his leash. Now he can accompany us virtually anywhere we go. Thanks to Sit Means Sit, Boss has the foundational discipline to live a life of freedom. Incredible results!!!
I highly recommend Sit Means Sit for dog training. All their trainers are experienced and knowledgeable. I definitely needed lots of help with my 2 year old Shepard mix I adopted from the shelter, he was reactive around other dogs and difficult to walk even around the neighborhood. After getting training he’s a completely different dog to be around, well behaved and follows commands. The trainers will come to your home and work privately with you and then when you’re ready you go to the training facility and work there. It’s been a great experience and worth the money for sure.
We had such a great experience with sit means sit. We had a very high energy Labrador puppy. He did the 10 day stay with JD and was transformed. He is much better on his walks and his behaviors around the house with a quick push of the button. He’s still high energy but now he is much more manageable. Thank you JD and the sit means with team!
Sit means sit has been a great experience for our new pup! We really enjoyed how there are multiple trainers that had many tips and tricks. Our most recent trainer, Bryan, had some of the best advice for our lab and within our 30 minute lesson we saw some of the best improvements yet! What I’m most excited for though is the unlimited lessons, after our initial 4 we can now join group lessons at a nearby location! I’m very happy with how much my Lab puppy has improved and I can’t wait to see how far he will come! Thank you Bryan! And thank you Sit Means Sit!
We had a great experience training our puppy through Sit Means Sit all of the trainers were really caring and knowledgeable. This is our 3rd lab and the others were never trained, I already see a difference in just 7 months. I would recommend!
My Henry was so reactive toward other dogs and people. Can’t even take him on walks. After months of home training with no results we decided to take him Sit Mean Sit. Thanks to J.D. @ Sit Mean Sit and after 10 days of boarding, can’t believe what a difference it make. Henry is now able look and be close to other dogs with no reaction. Now I am able to recall him also. He is still working on a weekly basis in group class. Would highly recommend this place if you want to have a calm dog.
We sent our puppy here for two separate week-long training sessions, both of which ended with an in-home training session. In addition to the on-site training sessions, we believe Sit Means Sit has made a world of difference in our dog's growth and behavior. Their simple method -- using a "tap" and concise commands -- lends it self to the whole family's participation in the training. We highly recommend this training method!
I have no words that can amount to my gratitude towards Sit Means Sit. This was the best experience I could have hoped for! We had our puppy enrolled in the 20-day board and train class. All of the trainers were so gentle and patient with our puppy, Lucy, and sent us regular updates on her progress throughout her time there. Skylar did an absolutely amazing job and we saw such a huge improvement in less than a week. When we introduced her to Lucy in the consultation, she was so sweet with her and made her very comfortable even though she was scared. She was shy and wouldn't even come out from under the bench at first. Now, she is so social and obeys commands better than we could have hoped for. She used to pull on the leash, bark, and refuse to listen to us or obey any commands we tried to teach her, and this training facility completely changed her for the better. I 100% recommended choosing Sit Means Sit if you are thinking about getting your dog professionally trained. I am confident that if they were able to train and desensitize our dog the way they did, they can do anything! Skylar answered all of our questions, was very gentle with Lucy, was very informative and thorough, and overall we loved how personable she was and recommend her! They even gave her a bath before we picked her up!
We spent about an hour with Todd Murphy and his beautiful puppy, Monet. Honestly, about 15 minutes in and we were already sold. Todd made a lot of promises that typically we wouldn’t believe but there was something different about our meeting and his interaction with our dog Teddy. We chose the two week option for Teddy to be boarded at Sit Means Sit, and so glad that we did. His trainer Ryan, is simply a really good person and a fantastic dog trainer. The turnaround in obedience in just two weeks without any interaction from us has been simply amazing. Todd thank you for providing us a better way with our puppy. Ryan, thank you for delivering on promises. we weren’t sure could be kept, but you delivered on and more. Thank you guys and thank you Sit Means Sit.
Dropped off Zeus (5 Month Old PB German Shepherd). His progress after just his first 10 days has been incredible! The team at Sit Means Sit are truly the best at what they do! I strongly recommend anyone interested in training their dog to give them a call!
We did the 2 week board and train and were very happy with their work with our 6 year old Siberian Husky! Very professional, friendly, and communicative trainers across the board. You definitely feel like family when you walk in the door. We would definitely recommend!
I wasn't real familiar how dog training would work. I expected to pick up my dog Tank after 21 days of board and train and he would listen to every command. I got that, and so much more! My 7 yr old Pomeranian Tank had very little attention span, was not house trained, did not know how to act around other dogs, barked at every little noise in the house, ran wild while trying to take him for a walk. After getting him back he was calmer, noises did not bother him, he wasn't running wild around the house and most importantly his attention span was there!! This changed the whole ballgame! I realized the sky was the limit on his continual training. He no longer wears a belly band in the house, I can take him places and he listens, behaves and I get many many compliments on my dogs behavior. Going for a walk with Tank has become so much more enjoyable. I can see Tanks pride beaming as he walks right beside me as we go for a stroll. Sit Means Sit staff were very friendly, made you feel comfortable during every phase of the process from front staff to trainer Ryan who was wonderful to work with, answered all our questions, worked with us on what we were doing right and wrong and kept us updated with Tanks progress. Most importantly we felt comfortable leaving Tank in his care. Would I recommend SMS to fellow dog owners? Most definitely! The investment is worth every penny in seeing your furry family member live a much more relaxed enjoyable life because Tank no longer has to worry about whether he is protecting and doing his job, he knows. Thank you again to the staff at SMS and especially to Tanks trainer and friend Ryan! Sandra M
I have 2 dogs,Bailey and Bobo. We just finished their training and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Everyone there was so friendly and demonstrated what they taught the dogs. They had us practice with our dogs so we could be successful at home. They were great about answering our questions and our texts. I loved the fact that they sent us texts and videos throughout their weekly lessons. Their barking has decreased a lot because of the tools they gave us to continue training them. It really does work.It is very expensive, but it was worth every penny. It’s important to carry through and practice skills daily to achieve success. We don’t expect the dogs to change their behavior overnight. It’s a work in progress. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit!
We have 4 dogs; two 5 month olds, a 9 month old and 12 year old. Our house was complete chaos. Started taking the two youngest to their puppy training then all 3 of the babies to their all day training. Wow! From the first day you see a complete difference. The explanations, videos, care and patience they have with our fur babies and us is amazing. They go from pulling on leashes and being so distracted to walking nicely. They even helped with getting one of our babies with not being afraid of the car. They can help with anything and are with you every step of the way. I am so glad I drove the 50 minutes for training. Totally worth every penny and second. I have life long assistance with my babies and am so incredibly thankful to Jordan, Catherine and all of the sit means sit clan. Thanks for helping us mark the “graduations” with pics! 1000% recommend!
My German Shepherd was completely out of control. Justin did a fantastic job of training Moose as well as showing me what to do at home. I recommend to anyone who needs dog training, at any level, to go to Sit Means Sit. We give it two paw up!
This company is fabulous for training. We took our rescue German Short Hair Pointer mix to Sit Means Sit with outstanding results. She walks with us with or without leash and will stay by our side. She eagerly follows commands and can't wait to get her collar on to go out. If you want a dog that not only behaves but is happy as well this is the place to go.
Enrolled my 5 year old, 130# dog because she was constantly pulling on her leash. She would run to greet people or animals when on walks which got dangerous. We completed 3 full training days and she is significantly better. Within a month, she has learned to accept loose leash walking and respects when other people go by. We are able to walk her off leash (in open, car free, rural areas) and she returns when called using the e-collar as needed. The collar was the key to focus her in to her handler and listen to commands; the missing link for my dog. I had Ellie for my final 2 full-days of training and she was WONDERFUL! So helpful. She listened to my priorities and implemented them into the training sessions. The entire organization has been professional, easy to work with and friendly. Emails are returned promptly and these new skills make walks with my pup enjoyable. There are still behaviors we need to address but I finally feel like I have the tools and support needed to accomplish those goals. Worth the 90 minute commute to their beautiful facility. We begin group sessions this week. I can update the review then.
When I got my dog George i immediately enrolled him in puppy training day classes - once those were completed - he now goes to daycare at Sit Means Sit Dallas and absolutely LOVES IT! Great place and great people who give 100% to the dogs!!
