DIY Dog-Friendly Fall Treats

Festive foods are fun but it can be tricky to find dog-friendly options. So, nothing is better than homemade treats!

Apple Cinnamon Cookies

For this simple recipe by Three Olives Branch you will need:

  • 3 cups of oats
  • 2 apples
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Then, simply grind the oats in a food processor and do the same with the apples until it has an applesauce-like consistency. Then combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix until combined. You can place balls of the dough on a baking sheet or use cookie cutters to make fun shapes! then, bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.

Sweet Potato Jerky

Though it is a more time-consuming treat to make, it is very simple! You can use multiple different vegetables but sweet potatoes and carrots make a great fall treat. Additionally, you don’t need a food dehydrator! Simply thinly slice your veggie and place them on a baking sheet. Then, on your oven’s lowest setting, cook for up to 10 hours. You will know your jerky is done when it becomes dark and leathery looking.

Pumpkin Bites

For this easy treat, combine 1 cup of pumpkin puree, 1/2 cup of peanut butter, and 2 cups of flour. Next, roll out on a floured surface and cut out any fun shapes you want! Then, bake for 12 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. And enjoy!

Pumpkin Spice Puppaccinos

Nothing says fall like pumpkin spice. For dog-friendly puppuccinos, you will need to blend 3/4 cup coconut milk, 1 cup pumpkin puree, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon in a blender until well combined. Then, pour into small serving cups. If you’d like, you can pour and freeze the mixture into ice cube trays so fido can enjoy a frozen treat later!

Remember to use dog-friendly ingredients and double-check for any artificial sweeteners before you start baking. Now go make some delicious treats for your furry friend! And don’t forget to add lots of love!
