Meet These Innovative Pet Startups

Life has challenges and over the years, savvy entrepreneurs have been coming up with ways to ease our pain points. Robots that clean for you, blankets with sleeves, or even ways to exercise while sitting at your desk have all been invented because an innovative person saw a need and created a solution.

These innovative pet startups are no different and working to change the pet industry as we know it.

PetHub

PetHub is a modern pet identification system that lets you see where your pet is in real time. It operates through a subscription membership service that allows pet parents to keep their pets happy and safe.

The idea for this startup came when owner Tom Arnold’s cat got out and he was scrambling to find her. He didn’t know how to update her microchip, her ID tag had an old phone number and address on it, and he was scrambling to find updated pictures of her. She eventually wandered home the next day, but after the potential loss of his pet, Arnold quit his job as Microsoft to address the potential disaster he could’ve had if his beloved cat never made it home.

What he did was develop a QR-coded pet ID tag that allows pet parents to put all of their pet’s data and information into a data profile. Then, if your pet goes missing, a missing pet notification gets sent out along with photos and medical information about your pet so that they can easily find their way home.

Mella

The mission of Mella is to improve the veterinary experience for our pets the way we have for humans at the doctor’s. They have developed technology to make your pet more comfortable at the vet, like with their non-invasive digital thermometer, or by making it easier to have telehealth visits and monitor systems at home.

By digitizing all of their products, they hope to create an interconnected network of health information to ensure your pet is getting the best treatment possible. Mella was created by pet parents for pet parents so that they can ensure their pets are living their absolute best lives.

Dog Child

Dog food looks pretty bland and boring and it’s a wonder that our dogs agree to eat it every day. Dog Child is aiming to change this by creating simple, easy-to-make meals that empower pet parents to cook nutrient-rich meals at home.

This company was founded out of necessity after CEO and founder Nicole Marchand wanted to switch her dog’s food to more whole foods. During this time, she found out that her only options were expensive and wasteful fresh food delivery services or complicated online recipes. Another problem is that many DIY recipes lack essential nutrients and don’t often get the stamp of approval from the vet.

Now, Dog Child looks to make cooking for your dog easy and approachable so that pet parents can give their pet the best food possible. If you are looking for specific nutritious homemade dog treats to give your dog, check out these recipes!

Bright Planet Pet

As the world becomes more aware of our purchases and diets are affecting our planet, Katherin Ellison realized the same could not be said of the pet industry.

Ellison decided a change needed to be made so she launched Bright Planet which creates 100% plant-based vegan dog treats. Now vegetarian or vegan dog parents don’t have to deal with the meaty dog treats that are so popular for dogs.

These treats are delicious and nutritious, and dogs love them!

These founders saw a problem and created a solution for some of the many headaches that can come with being a responsible pet owner.
